I was surprised to find out that such a small instrument has such good volume! In any case, if you want to use it on a gig, you should always plug it A second issue is that the built-in tuner is not as precise as I would like
5/5

This is the best decision I have ever made!.

This is a really good The sound is amazing when connected
3/5

It's a really solid little instrument that's very fun to play! Although it took a couple of minutes for my 13 year old to get used to those gigantic strings, he was playing scales within a few Flutter is quite easy to generate on the E string, so you have to adjust your technique a bit. The sound is excellent even though I didn't have an amp, but I plugged it into an old Fender Twin Reverb and it sounded great. This song sounds good acoustically, but not great. It really does sound like a bigger bass when plugged in. My kids are much more likely to finish a piece using the strings, since they're much easier on their fingers. Although you have to turn these tuners a lot to perceive any difference, the built-in tuner is really a convenience.

It's overpriced for a bland finish, and the proprietary rubber strings should have gone back to research and development
3/5

This is a fun and interesting bass that has an unexpected bass, but is not totally impressed with the finish. For $250, you could have done better. Shouldn't cost an extra $50 if the wood is How come the rubber strings are there? One model is roundwound metal, and another is roundwound plastic. Instead of those, why not provide them? Strings tangled up in weird bendy rubbery twisted shapes no one has ever seen before are not Kala had way more to offer me than I expected. You can purchase the regular strings model instead, or you can choose not to.

This is a fun new instrument, but the finishes are poor
4/5

The Ubass I am using is my first ever and I'm enjoying it. It's a lot of fun trying to transfer guitar skills to the There was a poor finish on the frets of this Kala ubass. The nails are sharp, despite a hand-written "30 point QC check"
I've cut my fingers a bit with it after playing it for a few hours. The first thing I have to do is to learn how to file them down so I can play the instrument again.
