Questions & Answers

It sounds great in my strat, but is actually too low to be useful on the Tele I have. How can I get this higher in the slot? Do you know of any home remedies for doing this?

I use simple card stock paper to lift the entire nut higher from the shelf (and CA glue to hold it in place) if you want to shim the nut up as a whole. Whenever you want a specific fret slot to be higher than the others, you can actually mix CA glue with baking soda as a filler and apply that mixture into the slot, then you can grind it down to the desired height when it dries (should only take about 30 seconds). I have successfully done this several times, and if you accidentally grind the slot away too low then rinse and repeat, throw more baking soda in the slot, a dab of CA glue, let it harden, then grind away once more until desired depth is achieved. I wish you the best of luck

Is the string gauge of the nuts same as the string gauge?

What do you think? I'll go with 9s. The bone nut blanks I have here were made by Gibson and Fender, and they are slotted, but their The nut files have to be used with them to get them installed correctly. It may be of some help.

Is there a way to determine a nut's thickness with a dimension?

If your slot thickness is 5, it's likely that you'll need to trim that down

it work for a Mexican strat neck with a 12" radius?

In order to use aftermarket nuts, they must be modified. Although this nut will work well in the slot on it's own, if you plan to simply stick it in there and leave it alone, it might be best to have someone who knows what they're doing handle it for you.

It does the job with a shim, but other than that is satisfactory
4/5

To start, let's focus on the positives. It is very reasonable to buy this 10 pack of bone nuts for an electric guitar. It is worth mentioning that the slots and the overall size of each nut in the pack were precisely cut and consistent. The bone is uniform in color and of good quality as far as its composition is concerned. Contrary to this experience, I have purchased bone nuts on an acoustic guitar that were not protected by rubber. There is only one real drawback to this product, which is that the height of the nut is approximately 1. 2 inches. A nut I needed to replace was 5 mm shorter than the one I was replacing. So before you buy these, make sure you measure the height of your guitar's nut
In order to compensate for this difference, I removed a couple of 3mm x 42 mm strips from one of those thin bubble remover cards that come with screen protectors. My plan was to try using the nut immediately, so I did it that way. However, I'm not sure a plastic shim is wise, since it might not conduct string vibrations and sound resonance effectively, which is why I used a bone nut in the first place. When I install them again (in case this one turns out to be too short), I plan to use a piece of thin hardwood maple veneer I have on hand, glue it to the nut's bottom, and then sand it to the proper The fretboard is made of wood, so wood on wood seems better than plastic on wood. To me, that's what it should be since wood on wood means a better tone. It might have been better had I spent a little more on taller bone nuts. Maybe they would work better Remember to measure your old nut before ordering! Prices range from $12 for 10 bone nuts to $30 for 20 bone nuts. This is not a bad deal at all.

S. There are many Asian clones of Strats and Teles that work well with these. Although they will fit some USA necks with narrower string spacing, they will not work with all. Unless the nut slot is cut on a radius, it uses this technique. Occasionally, this nut will not be tall enough, and you'll need to shim it to fit. The slots will have to be cut to fit the neck radius and depth if you're quite different from the rest. A 14-degree radius looks like it has been used for the slots. If I can get one on the bench, I'll update this post with the measurements.

You should make sure you are understanding the measurements
4/5

Exactly as described in the description. I sent it in a very short time. I have dealt with them in the past. It was impossible for me to figure out the measurements (I could not tell what was width or height). After I had read them three times, I knew that they would be quite small. In many cases, they will need to be shimmed, which I do not think was worth the time or energy. There are enough guitars in my collection, though. One way or another, they will all be used. I appreciate your kind words.
