There is a reddish brown color to it. The color of this tortoise shell is a little redder than typical. I think it looks great on my husband's black bass.

I was able to change my Sunburst pbass a lot. Using this new design, it has a vintage look that is sure to turn Despite my reasons for giving it 4 instead of 5 stars, I give it 4 stars 1) I had to file around the holes for the pick up to make the PG fit without rubbing against it and causing the pickup height to be altered. This is the first time this has happened to me, although I have changed many pickguards It may be because this is a four ply PG instead of the three ply PGs I have usually used. My customized fender bass had a nice, clean pickguard that was perfect for that project. The pickguard arrived in a timely manner, was intact and looks fantastic. This is exactly how I wanted it to be!.
The transaction was smooth and the product was perfect. I would order from this seller.
The color and pattern are better than anything I've seen from an aftermarket provider. Holes are present for mounting the pullbar and covers. Getting it to fit on an SX required a lot of fiddling, but that was to be.
