Questions & Answers

Is it necessary to re-calibrate this pH meter? How do I know when it needs to be re-calibrated or calibrated? what do you mean? calibrated ?

The device probe should be kept in a neutral storage solution, according to the manufacturer. The protective tip case/container has a 'fill' line for reference, and it is designed to safely hold a liquid when stored as directed - The salts in the probe tip will dissipate if distilled or deionized water is used as a storage solution alone, and the probe will need to be replaced. It cost about $25, plus a good deal of time and effort to get it right. If you're out of storage options, keeping the probe wet is preferable to keeping it dry. However, do not store for more than a day or two without the specialized solution; Typically, these cost between $10 and $20. a 100ml bottle costs $13 - Bottles in the 250ml size are available on Amazon.

Is it possible to test urine with this?

Yes, it is capable of testing urine without difficulty. The urine can be collected in the probe cap.

Is it true that this comes pre-calibrated?

Before they were shipped out of the factory, the testers were calibrated. However, due to the time it takes for them to reach our customers, we recommend performing the calibration with the included premixed buffer solutions before using them for the first time. br>Thank you for taking the time to look into this!

Once a month, I will use this meter. Is there a way to keep the probe in storage?

The probe's sensitivity and accuracy can be maintained by storing it in the storage solution. While storing the probe without a solution will not harm it, it will temporarily reduce its sensitivity and accuracy. The sensitivity and accuracy of the probe can be restored by placing it back in the storage solution for about 10 minutes.

I am a retired chemist, and I highly recommend this meter because of its high quality at a reasonable price
5/5

It is critical to have a calibrated unit. After using the probe, rinse it with deionized or distilled water and store it in a 3 mol KCl solution. Because the calibration instructions aren't very clear, I recommend looking up a video on YouTube to walk you through the process. To use for calibration, you can buy pH 7 and pH 4 or pH 10 buffers. The number of buffers included with the meter will not last indefinitely. Make your own probe storage solution (3 mol Kcl) if you prefer. In a liter of water, dissolve 225 grams of KCl, or half that amount in a pint. Use distilled or deionized water at all times. Use those two buffers for a two-point calibration if you're working with a pH range of 7 to 4. Those buffers should be used for a range of 7 to 10. Calibrate the three buffers three times for a range of 4 to 10. My meter is what I use to check my hydroponics, and it has served me well.

Here are a few pointers on how to make the most of your time! (An excellent little meter, but pH sensors necessitate some skill)
5/5

Useful hints include:

- IMPORTANT NOTE: Remove the sensor's bubble. Your readings will be thrown off by a bubble, and your calibrations will be thrown off as well. To remove the bubble, simply shake the unit as if it were a mercury/spirit fever thermometer. I'm curious how many people's readings are being messed up by bubbles. I did, and oh my goodness, what a difference it made!

- IMPORTANT NOTE: Stir the probe in the sample to dislodge any bubbles on the OUTSIDE of the sensor, then set it aside for a few minutes to stabilize the temperature reading and adjust the pH.

- DO NOT submerge it in water or moisten it with distilled or deionized water! The electrode will be harmed as a result of this. It can be stored with either tap water (which contains minerals and other "normal" stuff) or a 3M KCL solution (which is the better option).

- The correct way to put the batteries in is as follows:

- Calibrate with the 7pH solution first, then rinse before calibrating with the 4pH solution. (I'm not sure why, but pH probes appear to be recommended in this manner).

This meter is so cool! Some of the negative comments here perplex me
5/5

After becoming dissatisfied with the performance of the $10 meters sold here, I decided to purchase this meter. This has proven to be extremely reliable for me. I take meticulous care of it and it has given me excellent service; I keep it in its cap with 4. There is no answer. Because it says 4 every time I turn it on, I know it's well calibrated. I usually rinse it in distilled water, shake off the excess, and wipe it clean with a soft tissue after using it. After that, I put it back in its cap with the number four. There is no answer. I've been able to compare it to a variety of existing solutions, and it's spot on. I noticed it had dropped to 4 after about a month of use. 2 if it's kept in a 4. There is no answer. I re- 4 has been calibrated 0 and 7. According to their online video, they received a score of 0 out of a possible 10 points. It took about 2 minutes, and it's now perfectly calibrated again without the use of any annoying little screwdrivers or other tools. It was well worth the money I spent.

If you don't get one with an o-, you're out of luck
3/5

Please return the ring. The first one I bought broke, but that was my fault; these should not be stored in deionized water. Although this is a good ph pen, I have some issues with the company. I ordered a new one to replace the one I broke. The one that arrived was unable to calibrate, and I was unable to store it in solution for an extended period of time. I returned it and received a replacement, only to discover that this pen comes in two different models. One that begins with the letter o One ring is attached to the bulb, while the other is not. Without that o-, you can't store Hess wet. seal with a ring I've included two images to demonstrate the differences. Should you get the one that doesn't have an o-? ring, return it, and specify that you want the one with the o- ring. If you ask me, this is a company's filthy pool.

Once you've figured out how to calibrate it, it's a great meter
4/5

To get the hang of calibrating this meter pen, it took some practice and experimenting. The unit enters calibration mode with a long press of the CAL button, and the calibration procedure is cancelled with a short press of the MEAS button. I found the instructions confusing because they combined those two actions into a single step. To calibrate, hold down the CAL button for a long time before inserting the probe into position 7. 00 buffer until a smiley face appears on the screen. Don't be in a hurry; wait for the unit to stabilize before pressing the CAL button briefly. If you see an "M" on the display, you've completed the first task correctly. calibration of the points Rinse and dry the probe with distilled water (also known as "pure water" in the instructions). (Avoid scratching or damaging the electrode bulb!) Use an absorbent wipe or paper towel to lightly blot around the bulb. ) To start the 2nd point calibration, long press the CAL button once more. The probe should be inserted into the fourth position. 00 buffer, then wait for the smiley face to appear. Hold down the CAL button for a few seconds and look for the letter "L" on the display. The second point calibration is now complete. You can now measure the pH of your solution by rinsing the probe in distilled water and drying it.

Fail
3/5

For about 6 weeks, everything was fine. It will no longer be able to keep its calibration. I've sent Apera several emails and left two voice messages, but I haven't received a response. A business can offer any warranty they want, especially if they don't intend to honor it. Unfortunately, this ph pen is no longer available. Apera has failed miserably.

It's both precise and simple to use
5/5

With a carry case and calibration solutions, it's a very well-made product. My previous pH meter had to be returned because it was constantly fluctuating and never stayed calibrated. It was a different brand, one of those cheapo little yellow ones that everyone claims to work great but that didn't work for me. Regardless, I "splurged" a little and purchased this pH pen. It works practically right out of the box; simply follow the instructions and calibrate the item; as long as you fill the cap with a little electrode storage solution (or the 4. 0ph calibration solution in a pinch)br>br>It uses 4 AAA batteries, which, if you're like me, you probably have plenty of. This pen comes with a nice carrying case, laminated instructions, and a COA that has been signed and verified. Those who complained about the pen appearing "used" due to moisture inside the cap should read the instructions, as it is supposed to look that way because the factory added some water to keep the electrode from drying out during transit. So far, so good. br>br>A little reading goes a long way. br>br> I'll come back and update if things change, but for now, I'm really enjoying it!.
