Here's what you need to know. My research led me to the conclusion that this was the one to buy after a lot of consideration. Other reviewers who have reviewed other similar devices noted that they needed to add a washer to clamp the tilt adjustment tight, so if this happens to mine, I will do the same, which is not a problem. The top of the line version offers three or four units, while this is available in two or three. A micrometer is essential, but only for holding one. As a result of the product working perfectly, I would be happy with more purchases if necessary. This holder is sturdily built, and the base is thick, as well. It is just referred to as the jaw guide, and the jaw guide is tapered away from the movable jaw. So, the farther open the jaw is, the looser the movable jaw is. So that it works better, I will machine my own jaw and jaw guide. The purpose of purchasing this tool would be defeated if you have to reinvent it every time. There is nothing fancy about this item. It's inexpensive and "value" priced. This isn't an exceptionally well built machine, but it looks nice and works well. The quality of the product is excellent. By turning one knob, I was able to get it to work better.
It fulfills its purpose. To prevent scratching of surfaces, you should glue the feet so they do not fall out.
