The Surftest SJ-210 and SJ-301 surface roughness testers use this integral detector to measure surface roughness in applications including shop floors, machining, statistical data management, and quality assurance (QA).

The machine may be designed to have a built in skid force of 400mN, or less, or to measure forces below 4mN (SJ-301) The standard deviation (SJ-2010) is 75mN

This detector is available in a range of types, including standard and deep groove, with varying sizes of heads

The device connects to the Surftest drive unit in order to operate

Probes for the 402 are no longer available. Neither this probe nor the 402 probe can be used on the 402.
