I'm perplexed by the description of the 8 ct. package of three. Does this imply three packages of 8 ct.?

Yes. For a very long time, you won't need to buy refills.

How do you get the brush cleaner out of the base so you can put the refill in?

Unscrew the brush cleaner from the base by holding it by the WIRE. When putting in a new brush cleaner, go in the opposite direction.

What is this item's code number? I'm looking for a brush that is 618 wide or extra wide. ?

What "Code" is being sought is a mystery. Aside from that, I bought Wide rather than Extra-Large. brushes of a large size

Is it true that these (Christmas-themed) are conical? Are they cylindrical (not tapered) like the ones shown in the photos, or are they shaped like a tree? I've had the wrong ones sent to me in the past. ?

Those with the word "WIDE" on them are actually conical - in the shape of miniature Christmas trees - I've been using them for quite some time.

With some difficulty, I was able to obtain a refund. It would have been simpler and more satisfying if Amazon had simply sent me the items I needed to finish the order.
