The material of the belt should be good

Even though the end joints of the polyurethane belt are trickier than the manufacturers say they are, this material is a good choice for drive belts. To get a weld that was clean enough to last for more than ten minutes, I had to practice it half a dozen times. A file was used to polish the sides of a wide soldering iron tip, then I heated it to a high temperature, held the ends against the faces of the iron until they melted, and then I slid them together off of the end. My hands held the ends together for five minutes to ensure a good set, then I waited thirty minutes for the set to 'cure. ' I was able to fix it this way. A clean end during the melt and fuse process, as well as a good curing time, make all the difference.

The truth is out there! My old drill press, which was still in good working order, needed a belt replacement and I couldn't find any belts that would fit

As I admit, I was skeptical, but it was my last chance. A blowtorch was used to melt the ends in order to weld this after I cut it with a heated utility knife. a little while for me to cut the belt down to its perfect size, but I have been using it heavily for several weeks and it is holding up well.
