Questions & Answers

Is it possible to reset it by the home owner?

If you want to reset the screw, you can simply turn the screw in the direction indicated on You will not be charged a fee by your gas provider by doing this. I am instructed not to reset my gas meter by my gas provider. In some cases, however, you may prefer to do it yourself if you are very careful to make sure that it is safe to do. Be sure that no gas has escaped in the area, the pilots should all be lit properly so that no gas escapes, no gas lines should be ruptured,

The vertical unit has a glass inspection port. Does this one too?

It is my understanding that it is.

It works well with propane at the Can I use 5 pounds of pressure as a minimum?

There is no problem using this Firefighter valve with Propane. Five pounds of pressure is the minimum. If there is a 5 shake, the glass will break. In the presence of a Class 4 safety valve (Richter scale), the propane gas flow will be cut off.

Can the models of the service lines be sized either for outside or inside dimensions of the service line? For instance, would the unit of 1" be able to fit a service line measuring 1" outside diameter?

It is a totally incorrect answer from the seller. * For regular steel gas pipe, the size refers to the nominal (not accurate) INSIDE diameter. The inner diameter of a half inch is 7/8 inch, and the inner diameter of a 3/4 inch is 1" Approximately one inch is one eighth inch outside and one inch is one inch inside I measured the pipe at 3/4" outside. Then, I divided it by 3, based on the length of a single wrap of paper around the pipe. A diameter of 14 will give an approximate measurement.

Here is a better way to do it By shaking the handle you are able to turn the gas off. The process of plumbing it in was relatively easy. In the same company, they sell a bracket to mount it on, but it's aesthetically unsightly so I made my own out of stainless square tubing. Although you're not required to bracket it to your home, you should make sure you do it In a sense, that's how this is intended to work.
