This tool should not be used to splice a three-wire cable. All three wires (six in total) are connected.
Keep in mind that this product does not separate the wiring from the leads.
It is not so large that it takes up too much room in the electrical panel. I'll be placing additional orders.
Noalox has been added to the mix. Three of these were used to connect a sub panel in the new shop to the main panel in the house. From one panel to the next, 6AWG ground was run straight through. All three can fit in a small 4 X 6 X 8 inch junction box (which is a little tight but manageable with proper cable routing). These easily accommodate 2 AWG. They came with enough plugs to cover all of the ports and are ready to use. Will be purchasing these again for the next project.
These connectors are the way to go if you want to splice three heavy gauge aluminum or copper wires together. Split bolts, which must be insulated separately, are far more difficult and dangerous to use.
If ABC is the back port and 123 is the front port, you can fix a single AWG 6 that is way too short by using 1 and C.
The product is well-made and of good quality, and it performs admirably.
They worked great, but I had to add noalox. Other than that, they were simple to use and provided a good right connection.
