The Chinese wire nuts sold on Amazon for ridiculously low prices are simply not comparable. The 3M is far superior, and given what you're asking of it, you should definitely pay the extra money for the designed-for-you version. This is the Minnesota version. br>br>For starters, the item itself is more versatile, as it can accommodate both reds and tans of various sizes. br>br>However, even within the item, it is vastly improved. The bottom red skirt is flexible, while the tan skirt is more rigid, making it "comfortable-looking. " r" (at least as comfortable as twisting a large number of these by hand can be). br>br>The real kicker is on the inside. The spring that "bite" into the bare wires and binds them together is made of solid, angled steel. It cuts and bites into the copper while maintaining a high level of tension. If you open it up, you'll see that it's a vs. If you look at a cheap Chinese wire nut, you'll notice that it has a crappy, round-shaped head. The spring is made of a wire that can be pulled apart with your fingers and has no angle to bite into the copper. In fact, because the Chinese springs are so loose, they frequently fall out - As a result, you might end up with a bad connection if you use a nut without a spring. Not with the 3Ms.


I threw away all the Chinese ones and went 100% with these Tan/Red 3Ms except for a bag of Orange/Blue for the%.

You'll never want to use the low-cost knockoffs again once you've tried these. I've used it with wires ranging in diameter from 22 to 32 inches. 12 AWG with no issues. br>br>The quality is on the inside of these. The solid coil of metal does an amazing job of biting into the wires to provide a solid, long-lasting connection; once it's bottomed out, give it a nice pull and you'll notice that it has a hold stronger than Hodor can hold a door! The red part of these feels like rubber, which is helpful when trying to cram wires into them. Even if you're wearing thick gloves, they're very easy to hold on to. br>br>They come in a handy resealable bag, which is convenient if you only need a few. I would buy these again without hesitation, and I am looking forward to the many projects that will benefit from strong and secure connections.

I've been using 3M wire nuts for a long time. These are unquestionably superior to competitors' products. I usually start by twisting the wires with lineman's pliers before adding the wire nut. You can test your connection by pulling firmly on the wire nut. Twisting and installation are made easier by the soft rubber on the outside. The rubber "skirt" is about 1/4 inch longer than standard wire nuts, allowing it to cover not only the wire nuts but also the surrounding area. insulated wire segments (if you've taken off too much insulation - If you're twisting the wires together before applying the wire nut, about 5/8" bare wire should suffice. br>There are a few things that should never be compromised, and one of them is an electrical connection.

These are the ones I use for all of my wiring. For single and small wires, I have the yellow and tan sizes. They are far superior to the Ideal brand sold in big box stores in terms of durability. I'm a contractor, so I go through these quickly, but the extra cost is well worth it.

The outlets are simply worn out, so I decided to change the color scheme, which is why I'm also replacing the switches. However, as I go through this, I'm going to replace all of the wire nuts with these because the ones in the boxes right now aren't holding up and I don't trust them. These, on the other hand, have a good grip and I have complete confidence in them! I would strongly suggest it. You're not going to be let down.

Because I was replacing a lot of lights and other electrical items in my new house, I bought a bag of these wire connectors. The wire connectors that come with ceiling fans are a good example of this. Lighting is a waste of time. They are small, inexpensive, and do not stay in place. The 3M wire connectors firmly grip the wires and keep them connected. Get yourself a bag for your home!.

They are not cheap, but they are well worth the money. After seeing an electrician use them, I could tell the difference in quality and durability once I started using them.
