The taps were dirty from being machined and had heavy burrs between the teeth when they arrived. Fortunately, you can use one to break the burrs out of the other if you have two of them, but they could have been better. And perhaps the rest of the burrs will emerge after the first use. Still, they should be adequate for the lock cylinders I plan to install in the holes I tap. (If they don't, I'll let you know. ).

The tap is excellent. Takes hold of the material and creates fantastic threads. For a guitar switch cover plate nut, I hand threaded a soft brass replica of a vintage coin, which fit perfectly. This big tap worked perfectly after making the drill size for 80% threads and hand tapping using 16th turn forward, one half turn back cuttings.

I had four M14s, one of which was a duplicate. There were 5 bolts that wouldn't thread into a couple of lower control arms. br>These did an excellent job of thread cleaning. br>I'm glad I didn't try to hammer the bolts into the control arms without first cleaning the threads.

I've tested the die on 1/2" Lowe's rods and it works perfectly. The tap has yet to be tried. This is the same thread that is used on the low-cost 3D printers. chucks for mini lathes with jaws.
