We got a good result here. Because I was unable to drill and tap a 4 hole at work properly due to my inexperience, I bought this kit A 40 hole had to be drilled into stainless steel
I'm not sure why the taps at work didn't work, others do. My oil kept breaking them, but I kept lubricating them. It worked with this one In the end, I didn't use a power tool with it. There's nothing more to it than my tapping hand. Sadly, I had nowhere to hide another broken tap, so I could not risk another one breaking. The other did not work, but this one did. This is quite an accomplishment for such a small hole. My lack of experience with tapping holes has led me to not want to undertake the project. My experience is that the smaller ones are more problematic. I found this approach to work and it did so well for me. It has been used so far to tap 12 holes through stainless steel holes ranging from 1/8-1/2 inch in diameter The thickness is 1/4 inch.
I don't know if it's just that I haven't bought a new tap in a while, or whether spiral taps work this way, but this thing blew right through a piece of 1/8" mild steel flat. The longer we tried to back off, the more resistance we encountered I could cut 4 feet rather than just press on forward, so I was able to turn Without stopping, 40 threads are inserted in a hole measuring #43 in diameter. After cutting the spiral shavings, I ended up with a couple of long shavings that are just like I would get off A perfect purchase. Well worth the price I paid for.
This was used to chase a taper tap on a piece of Three holes were damaged by a broken piece of junk. As I was handling it with extreme care. I hate being frustrated.
There is nothing like a spiral flute tap for the flute player! Having used it on aluminum as well as mild steel, I am happy with it.
Keep in mind to use plenty of lube and to go slowly. A mini lathe is what I'm using it for. You should also make sure that you are going into the hole straight. It is likely that you will break it if you are canted.
This product is ideal for 4 people This tap has 40 holes.
