tap as I used it on my All American Pressure Canner Model #7 to tap through the holes a little bit more to install the five, ten, and fifteen pound pressure valves where a petcock valve used to be. As the new valve would not be able to go all the way through the hole, the first valve would I moved the old petcock valve (rated at 23LBS release pressure) behind the flange. There was an old plastic safety valve in the rear hole that rated at more than 28 pounds. I discarded it as it was no longer useful. Apparently, the petcock valve had to be switched out because it was running at "cracking" pressure In addition to the steam gauge, I kept the pressure gauge, so I have extra safety.

This is excellent

In the same vein as all Irwin/Hanson taps, this is an excellent product. My initial purpose was to tap into a port for injection of methanol and water The system worked as expected.
