It is possible to insert the prescribed letter S size bit into the hole, but can not be used for thread creation. Taper not as much at tip as it should be. There was a similar problem reported by another reviewer.

My job was 1/8-inch standard, but it turned out to be a little different It will be used with a 27 tap, so the pipe thread profile will be required.

Custom lamps can be made with this. Upon delivery, the tap worked as expected. I buy a lot of taps for my home. I made lamps for resale and as a hobby. Tools like this are an essential part of a custom lamp maker's arsenal. There is nothing to complain about when it comes to the tap. Brass and aluminum can both be tapped with no problems.
