How can I tell which size I need? What is the 3/8 size, what is the 7/16 size, and what is the 5/16 size?
If you get a thread gauge and match it with a bolt that will fit into the threaded hole yourself, you will know the size tap you will Use a thread gauge to find out which thread size or pitch the bolt has if you have only a bolt but no hole. Insert the thread gauge onto the bolt's threads and read the gauge's reading. Consider looking at a set of taps, dies, or a complete set for an inexpensive price. Hope it goes well for you! The Honk

The taps are of good quality
I had to tap a hole in a hardened alloy part by hand, and a regular tap would not take the bite. This set, along with the taper starter tap, solved the problem. I started with a taper and cut it in 1/16 revolution increments with plenty of downward pressure and cutting oil but I was barely able to get it started. I took it slowly as the tap encountered real resistance due to the hardened material of the part. I did lots of back turns to clear sludge and chips, as I was afraid the tap might snap in the hole if I loaded This caused things to become a bit tense because the ship was severely tilting along the long axis. As a result of this observation, I am convinced that taps are not too The steel is not carbon (HC), but high-strength steel. There were several HC taps that snapped on me with less twist than this tap could take. It does state in the description that the material is carbon steel, but I wanted to clarify.

not for use by members of the public The two most common metals are ferrous metals and mild steel. Steels hardened to case hardening, high speed steels, or tuff stainless steels should not be treated with this material. Don't rush the cutting process and use a cutting oil. There were 32 threads in brass as well as bronze that were sharp and of good quality. In this case, I used the threading set to screw up a brass cleaning rod for a gun barrel.

I am glad I didn't have to buy a whole set of taps and dies
The product I needed was just right for me, and the quality is great. In spite of the obvious peril, It is better to buy a whole set than buy individual pieces, since I don't need a whole set. A few common sizes will be fine for me. I would rather pay slightly more per piece than buy a whole set. The fact that they sell these single pieces means I can buy a few duplicates of the sizes I use rather than a set in which I will only use a few pieces, so I am thankful they have them. This tap has very good quality, and I would rate it as very good There were several repairs I was able to do on the tap and it Please let me know if you need a 8 or less There are 32 NC (course thread) that may be of use. After a few 8-hour days, I ended up with a few 9-hour days A few NC as well as some 6-inch.

It's a nice set of taps! It isn't that there is much to say about thread taps, because anyone who has ever used one will know that they aren't very useful
Whether they work correctly or not depends on how they are designed. I tested them and they are working Three different tapers are nice, since they allow you to tap blind holes. In most tap sets, the tap ring is only included for one thread pitch, so if you want to tap blind holes, you will need to purchase another ring. The bottoming tap was needed for blind holes even though I already have a tap set. There is no better set to suit your needs than this. As impressive as this pitch was, I'm sure that the other thread pitches made by this company would be just as impressive. It is a good idea to use thread cutting lubricant, and occasionally reverse the direction of the tap in order to prevent it from getting If you don't use a tap correctly, it can be broken.

It's just what I was looking for It's a good thing I didn't have to buy a set of tools since this one is great

It took all three tap bits to complete 8 taps
The 3 tap bits did their job, but the lives were too short for them to last long. Through a 1/2-inch hole I was tapping A 4140 alloy steel bar is one inch in diameter. When the 4th tap was made, the first bit broke in half. When the 7th tap was made, the second bit tip broke off. As of now, the third bit has made it to the end and appears to still have some left There are 8-volt batteries that I need to replace There was also another 32 tap bit used on another hole on the same steel bar, and that tap bit went through it like butter.
For comparison, I used a Dormer E000 Powdered Metal Spiral point tap in other holes on the same steel bar.

I love it! A tap I broke tapping into steel caused me to buy these to replace it
A little too much of an angle was too much for the tap to lift, and I had to try to remove it. There are several tap styles included in this kit, such as flat, tapered, and I like that they did an excellent job with perfect threading, were of good quality, and came in a nice.

The purpose of these was to "clean out" my computer In an old server rack, there were rusty holes that needed to be filled
Whenever possible, I only did four holes at a time to facilitate equipment movement between them. In the 12th hole, the tap snapped off and is now stuck inside the hole. I had only finished 11 holes by the time the tap snapped off. As for the rating, I gave it three stars because they did come in a small case, so the remaining two taps would be harder to lose, and because I still have two taps left.
