I just finished my job last evening and the tool worked flawlessly as usual. This piece has a shank of 5/8ths of an inch, and I just so happened to have a 5/8ths chuck for my tailstock on my lathe that allowed me to tap the piece It was the mead that I used- As I rotated the workpiece free hand with the stock chuck, I left the tailstock unclamped and applied sufficient pressure to get the tap to feed without assistance. In case of a blind hole, I would recommend tapping one third of the way followed by a tiny bit more backwards after each turn to break up the chips that might pack at the end. All in all, everything went according to plan.
This is a great tool, especially for its price. I am very satisfied with it!.
You've found a great tool here. Most of my use is to clean carburetor fuel inlet threads, and it works.
I found it very useful, not the best, but it did what I needed it to do.
supposed to be a coarse thread tap, but it turned out to be a fine thread tap - so it didn't work In my opinion, it was a waste of money.
The fuel inlet threads on my carburetor were damaged, and I used this tap to fix them. Perfect! I got the job done without a hitch. A fuel leak is no longer an issue. This tool was the perfect buy for me because my tap and die set did not include a tap this large.
The size was wrong and it was returned.
