That's my guess. At that price, it's not going to be Starrett, but the quality is fine. For my occasional use, it works perfectly.

I haven't used these yet, so my assessment is based solely on the set's appearance. I'm optimistic that they'll work because the cutting surfaces appear to be precisely formed, the tap and die bodies appear to be well ground, and the metal appears to be appropriately hard and high quality. (NOTE: If I encounter any issues with the taps, I will update this review. )br>br>The square ends of the taps are the most sloppy parts. Some are blatantly non-conformist. square: asymmetrical, rectangular, or incompletely formed It's as if the toolmaker ground the spiral cutting flutes before handing the taps to his dog to try to grind flats onto them. The backs of the flats have strangely squished centering/alignment holes. Without a 1000-ton forging press, I'm not sure how that's even possible. br>br>The tap wrench is a bit of a dud, but it'll do the job. But, to be honest, I'm not disappointed because the price is extremely reasonable for such a large set (and it is large), and it appears that the quality was channeled into the areas that mattered. The tap wrench, on the other hand, could be considered a freebie. br>br>It's mostly amusing to see what corners are cut (literally) when you spend so little money on such a modest set of tools. Overall, I believe they will serve their purpose well, and I would buy them again and recommend them to others as long as they are aware that perfection cannot be expected at this price. br>br>UPDATE: There's one more point worth mentioning. The die wrench is made of a large-diameter steel bar. On both ends, there are openings of varying sizes. This is good for threading long rods where the rod must pass through the opening, but it is bad for aligning the die on a centerline (such as a lathe center) and can make it difficult to begin threading exactly straight. Because the taps are center punched, this isn't an issue (though, as I mentioned earlier, some of the center punches are questionable). Keeping four (4) I gave it a five-star rating because I'm still impressed with it for the price.
It is simple to use. The performance was excellent. Quality is excellent. I wasn't sure because the price was so low, but I would recommend it to anyone looking for a starter kit or something to supplement their existing collection. Cuts cleanly and produces a pleasing end result.
This is a high-quality product that works well and comes in a variety of sizes that are difficult to come by. Threads on a pinion gear are repaired with this tool. It was exactly what I expected.
Both taps and dies retain their sharpness and are simple to start. I really like the item.
My husband needed something for work, so I bought it for him. He loved it. He'd been looking for something like this. He liked how heavy-duty it was and how many different sizes were available.
It performs admirably and offers excellent value for money.
I haven't used the tap and die set yet, but if I do, this one should suffice. Heavy-duty construction.
