The tape had a sticky side and a peel-off paper tape on the other side. The foam did not stretch during installation as a result of this. The exposed side of the foam isn't sticky after sticking it to a surface and peeling off the paper tape.

This foam compresses really flat depending on what you want, so think about what you need before buying. Because of its compressibility, it is able to mold itself to any surface. It's perfect for me because I'm using it for a lid that I need to close tightly without the foam pushing it apart. After a long period of compression, it retains memory, but after a day, it releases it. The adhesive is strong and sticky, but it can be pulled off to reposition the item during installation. It can slide around due to lateral force, and if squashed in sharp corners, it can get chewed up. Its flexibility necessitates caution when positioning because it is easy to overstretch it when putting it in place. Because the roll is so long and thin, it tends to unravel. br>br>It tends to stay compressed after a week or so, but it still maintains a good seal to what it was formed to. It's difficult to peel it away without tearing it at this point. I haven't had to worry about running out of strips because there is enough on the roll.
So I originally purchased this to simply seal my car's speaker so that it would not vibrate with each bass. It was incredibly successful! I also used it to seal the door panels so they don't creak when someone puts pressure on them (or make noise over bumps) due to the poor quality interior of the Mercury Grand Marquis/ Ford Crown Victoria. br>br>Unfortunately, the roll was packaged in a plastic bag, and when I opened it, the roll was distorted, and the lines were out of place in some areas, causing it to lose its stickiness. Fortunately, there was plenty, so I was able to use the foam that had not been damaged during the role; however, I paid $10 for 10ft of foam and only used about 7ft of it.
This was purchased to seal the gaps between my astronomical observatory's moveable dome sections. Although the thickness is satisfactory, the adhesive is not particularly sticky. It had some stuck to the non-adhesive side, and the tape only stayed on the plastic dome long enough for me to staple it shut. When the dome is closed and reopened, the tape shifts and moves on it. It's difficult to trust. I'll have to look for some that are a little more suitable. I was going to return it, but I cut some of it off, so I guess I'm stuck with it.
The spool, on the other hand, broke the first time I used it. Fortunately, the adhesive protection sticker is still in place, but I'll have to store it in a bag to keep it from falling apart any further.
The only disadvantage is that it is difficult to handle. The material coming off the roll can tangle and twist if not handled carefully, so having it delivered on cardboard backing would be preferable.
I wanted to use it to back up wood moldings over brickwork to give it a more finished look and to prevent spiders from having more places to hide, and it worked perfectly! It conforms perfectly to the various rough contours of the brickwork, and it blends in almost flawlessly with the dark mahogany finish on the wood unless you look very closely.
On the back window of my husband's car, there is a louvered wind cover. The cover was beginning to rattle as part of the previous foam had worn away. Rattles irritate me to no end! This foam tape was perfect for the job, was the right thickness, and was simple to apply. There is no longer any rattle, and the foam is actually superior to that used by the manufacturer. This is a fantastic product that I would strongly recommend.
Because the adhesive is so strong, it kept the 1/4" thick glass in place while I nailed the inside of the frame together. I was unable to reposition the glass once it had been touched.
