The product is amazing and has held up well for me over the past year. I don't know how much longer a soldered weld would last, but this product has. However, since I am not a plumber, I am unsure if it would be better since it won't rust. Prior to buying the product, I watched YouTube videos about it, and plumbers highly recommend it.
While I do not think a small amount of moisture would adversely affect it, do make sure it is as dry as possible.
You should be able to do this. To join cast soil pipe to pvc pipe, I used it in an area where using pig lead would not have been feasible.
In short, yes. Polyurethane sealants are used for this.

The cast iron bell housings were replaced with new PVC pipes after the old galvanized drain lines wore away. I used this stuff to seal the joints at the joints. In addition, the bell housing connections (cast iron to cast iron) were all resealed with it. To prepare the joints before I began, I used a wire brush Neither a leak nor a crack was seen. If you are going to use the drains, be sure to let them cure overnight. Additionally, when inserting the new PVC pipe into the old cast iron bell housing, apply a generous layer of sealant about 3/4" from the end of the PVC (very important) and then insert the pipe into the As a result, a good seal will be created. In order to ensure the pipe goes to the very back of the bell housing, make sure it is joined at the top. A good bead on the outside of the bell housing should be the result of this. It is important to apply enough sealant to provide a thick, wide seal around the bell housing and PVC pipe. I made the mistake of force packing the sealant into the joint, which clogged the pipe with sealant even though the pipe was seated into the bell housing properly. In this respect, the method described above is appropriate. In my case, I DIYed 4 new drain lines and eight joints made of cast iron to cast iron.

Sealant was used to fix a broken joint between a lead sewer pipe and a toilet flange. There haven't been any leaks so far, and it's been more than a year!.

On the top of one of our indoor septic drains, I used this product to seal an almost 2 foot crack. A hard, yet flexible rubberlike material is formed as a result My old iron had a tight seal that bonded well with the plastic- Pipes that are cast in concrete. Everything seems to be going well so far. Irrespective of the product name, this is a highly recommended coating for iron cast piping.

A caulk of PVC was applied to Quite nice! Finished off the other joints of the vertical DWV in the basement with the rest of the caulking tube. If there is a magic method, I have never heard of, this was too thin to stay in the joint of horizontal pipes so I did not consider it suitable.

Though it looks damp after curing, it actually dries with ease. I tried two different products and this is the only one that could seal cast iron to pvc conduit. My other two products The old lead pipe in our sewer line needed to be replaced, so I did not have enough pipe Make sure you follow the instructions to get the best results. After it cures, it looks wet, but it is actually It has been over half a year and there are still no leaks or signs I've never seen anything like this before!.

Using it to attach 4 inch lead pipes to brass closet flanges (youtube has a great video that shows you how to do it) and it worked like a charm. After curing, this stuff takes on the consistency of rubber. Despite this, since the sealant is very thick, you will need to squeeze the caulking gun much harder in order to apply.

I used to do lead seals, but this beats them all. The process is simple and straightforward. It is more expensive than the alternatives, but it is also safer.
