One year ago, I purchased this 16 cup size for storing flour, and it does, in fact, hold a 5 lb bag of flour. With the lid, I especially like how easy it is to use. It doesn't seem to hold a full 5 lb bag of flour from the reviews I read. We have one too! With about a 1" space to spare it easily holds the whole bag (without any kind of packing). We like the clean, easy-to-use design of this container. You will find it easy to use and won't take up much shelf space. The plan is to purchase a couple more of various sizes to put other dry goods in.
