The dishwasher will work, although it is rather large and heavy, so I would be careful about placing it there. Yes, it is safe to wash by hand here and there, but it might be safer to do so more often. For the record, I used to wash ceramic pots similar to this one, but I eventually got rid of the writing on them.
My experience is the same! I had to use something to ourselves to open out lid because it was too tight. Unfortunately, it broke and we had to throw away the jar and the treats inside.
Checking it out A small air gap exists between the lid and the frame ( but it's not extremely tight). The lid does not have a rubber casing around it). This case keeps dog treats fresh, but it's secure enough to keep them from being tampered with.

gave this jar as a Christmas gift to my daughter, but when she opened it, there was 1) a very small crack going all the way down one side and 2) the cover was damaged. This item was purchased in September, as I like to do my Christmas shopping all year round. Thus, there is no way for me to return the item because the return period is over. Since I learned to not buy so early in the year (even though I like paying as I shop throughout the year), and to open a box and check it immediately after receiving it, I have learned to not buy so cheaply made and very fragile As a result, I had to purchase her another one and now have to dispose of this one. The ceramic canisters are very nice and white. In order to ensure a tighter seal, the lid does have a white plastic gasket. The felt stickies under the neath were a suggestion from a reviewer, so it can easily be moved back and forth between hard surfaces. However, I think it does seem to be a bit pricey.
As shown in the picture and other reviews, it is a beautiful white ceramic, perfect for treats and chewing gum, since it's small, it makes a great decorative item. I purchased it when it was on sale (I got an Amazon price drop alert) and just loved it!.
