It is typically above the damper that chimney ballons are placed. You might like the 14" Flueblocker if you're looking for a plug that covers below the damper. If you don't find the size you need, both products are available in custom sizes.
A flame or gas log would burst this product and fall out of the flue if you lit them below it. In order to prevent any damage to the flue, it is most effective to turn off the gas valve and disable the gas log kit before piling anything into it.
If you want to place it in a ledge in front of a chimney wall, place it near a spot where the walls of the chimney This could be to the right of the firebox or in the upper area of If you look up into the chimney with a light and put on some goggles, you'll see a measurement spot after you look up. Material made out of exceptionally thin plastic. To be completely honest, this is the worst product I've ever bought. I was not able to expand the balloon due to a too-short inflation tube. Also, we would like to thank you for your support. Although it was a rather fragile sheet, it did tear when inflating against the chimney's mortar. In spite of the fact that I was very careful throughout the installation, the poor quality product is to blame.
As soon as the chimney bag arrived yesterday, I inflated it before trying it in the chimney to make sure it held I then put it in the chimney to see if it would work. I left the 15x15 chimney bag in the chimney for about 5 minutes before I noticed it falling A burst of air was heard coming out of the bag when I stepped back to reinflate The one I pulled down from the chimney had a small hole in it after I pulled it down. According to the instructions, the bags were supposed to be made thicker to resist punctures, but that does not appear to be The company immediately sent me the prepaid return label after I requested a return and refund. A plus in my book. The issue I have with this type of bag is the thin quality, and I wouldn't buy it again unless the chimney bag was thicker.
My plan is to put insulation in a trash bag instead of this balloon since it is of low quality at an unreasonable price. Purchase this product at your own risk.
I found the instructions to be clear and easy to follow. There have been no problems with deflation, and I was able to hook up the air tube to a battery-powered pump for an air mattress almost immediately. It has sometimes squeaked in extreme pressure changes because they have flexed a little with expansion or contraction, but that has never been You should be aware it can happen to you It doesn't make sense when you think about it, but it happens all the time. Though the materials used seem expensive, repairing a chimney is far less expensive than capping it off. In fact, we do have one that is capped, but in both we have experienced masonry flakes falling into the firebox and creating a messe. As a result, that is no longer an issue.
Even though my flue box appears irregular, I found installing it to be a challenging task. Because I couldn't reach the top of the hose, I had to get a longer hose, the 2' one that came with it was too short. I tied a dowel to the hose, too, because Multiple inflations and deflations are necessary for the system to function. This fireplace has a reminder tag that comes with it to remind people to remove the balloon before using it. I haven't seen a statement about the one thing not If there's any loose soot to be cleaned, then you should be prepared to get dirty. AVOID the use of hazardous substances. It was also helpful to have a headlamp.
Actually, you are better off sealing up your chimney with insulation as we have had this for less than 8 months and we constantly have to reinflate it. The insulation against cold is very limited if anything, it it has been a complete.
It occurred to me that I should have gotten a much bigger size and installed it lower when I went to install it. In order to get a good seal with this size, I had to crouch in my fireplace and jam my head and arm through the damper, then catch the inflator tube in my mouth and blow it up. Other than that, I think it is working well. It certainly feels like a better seal than using just the damper alone.
