Koldfront WTC12001WSLV 12,000 BTU 208/230V Through the Wall Heat/Cool Air Conditioner with Sleeve

So far, I haven't found any drawbacks to this product. It replaced an older product that had been installed in a larger sleeve and I'm very pleased with what I've seen so far. Even though the new furnace is rated at the same BTUs as the dinosaur I had to remove, it is smaller. It was pretty easy to install everything. In general, I found the directions provided to be pretty good and About the only two things I can think of that I might change about the design would not have any effect on the unit's operation. The installation would be a bit easier and the appearance from the outside would be improved slightly. In order to attach the brackets that hold the wall sleeve to the wall, four screws are attached from the outside of the sleeve through holes that remain open in the brackets when the brackets are mounted. I like the fit of the sleeve, but the screws are just a little too long and may interfere with the placement of the unit inside the sleeve, especially once the support pads have been installed, which slope the unit in order to drain properly. In order to slide the unit into the sleeve, I scratched the top of the unit while moving it. As a result, I had to slice off a small portion of the top two screws using This was then followed by an easy slide into place for the unit. Only one other thing I would suggest is adding two more holes for the louver which mounts outside the wall on the back of the sleeve. As you can see from the photo, there are four holes in the louver's middle. There is more room for adjustment at the corners, but it was not snug enough at the middle portion for the louver to be mounted on the sleeve. When operating, the middle side of the louvered section bends outward (about an inch) due to the pressure of the air discharge from the unit. It does not have the same effect as you might expect. It was cold as snow. The system has been delivering cold air 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the past month without a hitch. As we live on a dusty street, I clean the filters once a week. In addition, this is the second Koldfront I've purchased. The 8000btu BTU unit has been running without any problem for over a year. I would be critical of the fit of the filter in the housing if I had any criticism. The moment a filter becomes dirty, it allows dusty air to enter around the edges, resulting in the coils becoming clogged. It takes about 3 months for me to clean my coils.

I have two units and this one is much quieter than the two I replaced (I bought two). Unless the fan is blowing very hard, they are relatively silent (about the same or slightly less than my ceiling fan at high speed). According to the spec sheets, each is capable of cooling 600 sqft, roughly, but on very sunny 95 degree days here in DC, you might struggle to cool 800 sqft. Even though I do not have an exhaust vent to remove the moisture from long showers, it is still keeping the humidity between 40 and 55%. It is an old masonry building where I am, and thus far it looks as though it is.

This unit works well in every mode, and I am impressed with how well it operates. There is no need to program the remote, it is fully functional. If you are unsure of the right unit to choose, this is a good choice. I installed it in a 10 x 12 shed with 8 foot walls, a barn style roof, and it works well. Note that outdoor temps reached 100 degrees daily this summer.

It was not a bad installation, but I did have a few issues. I was impressed with the delivery time and high quality of the package. My experiences with the installation were not bad, but I believe a better insulation system and weather stripping could be implemented. My workshop, which is 20x20, can be cooled easily by this unit. There is hardly any noise from the unit and it is easy to control the temperature.

I bought it as a replacement for a Volunteer Fire Department in their office. I took out the very old one and installed this one without any problems. As the remote is located at a high altitude, it was very easy for the clerk to use. It is still running great as of now for cool air, but I have not yet used it for heat.
