A great deal of durability is provided by them. One should be able to put their shoes on if they weigh 300 lbs
The vendor adjusted the shelves to make the top shelf 7 1/8 inches high and the bottom shelf 7 1/2 inches high in order to accommodate my hiking boots, so we contacted him and asked him to make the shelves high enough so that the top shelf would be able to accommodate my hiking boots. As my husband and I are both tall, we do not find the height of the bench a problem. Although this did change the height of the bench to 23 inches, it was Dress shoes with low heels can be stored on the shelves at the standard height. High heels are not my cup of tea. If you have any special requests, you may want to reach out to the vendor.

I am very pleased with the bench. The color is a little off but it still looks good. Upon arrival, I found everything in order. A very good product. A sturdy piece. The stain colors are much more red than pictured, there is a small flaw in the paint on the leg. The Facebook page is extremely responsive to questions. Natural cherry and oak do not compliment the color very well but it blends well with the color of this wood. Across from natural cherry is the picture on the right. The red color appears to have been washed out on the pictures. You can get the exact size you want and a variety of colors. The update is I have used this bench a lot and it is still like new after all that time. There has been no fade in color, and paint and stain are still in good condition. In addition to holding up well, hinges have also been sturdy. This was a great purchase. I am very pleased with it. Their products are great, I wish they made more!.
The communication with the seller (JMBoxwood woodworking) was excellent because once I got back to them with more pictures, I could see what color options were available.
