An eighth of a gallon is the same as eight As far as I know, it's not recommended if you want to keep (a) fish, since the water plus decor, filters, and other items would put an aquarium at 80 pounds or more. I'd recommend going with the bottom shelf if it's for plants that don't need deep soil, a small reptile, or some other exotic that doesn't require much soil (since the bottom shelf is just the same as the top shelf).
As it was mailed to us, no hardware was included. You have to assemble the system. When I contacted manufacturer, they determined that they would not provide me with any hardware, so I had to install it on my own
The bobby pins I used did not come with hardware, so I had to use a different size. When you take the dimensions and directions for how to assemble it to ace hardware or your local hardware store, he will be able to provide you with the proper sizes. The hardware guy gave me something else, but I've forgotten what it was.

The product arrived early and was easy to assemble - I received it earlier than I anticipated The parts of the model were all labelled correctly. It is only the on-line system that I have a complaint about I think the line pictures are misleading as they make the shelf appear taller than it actually is, but overall I appreciate the durability of this shelf.

The plastic and foam inside avoided any damage to any shelves. * * Set up was quick and easy (30 minutes by myself) The instructions are clear and each piece is clearly marked. No need to use goo gone. The stickers popped right off without tearing or tearing. Bagging and marking each bolt and screw separately made it easier to identify them. The Allen key was even kept in its own bag. Now, let's look at the shelf. There is no sensation that the wood pieces are particle board materials the pieces are sturdy. I didn't expect them to be perfect, but I don't expect them to be perfect either. I knew it wasn't a super tall shelf because it comes up to my chin, and there are probably more than 4'6" in it. It didn't feel right to me to have something bigger. It is refreshing to say the least that the quality of the shelf is so high for the price. Furniture stores charge an arm and a leg for something that is half as good. This brand will be sold to me in the future.

The real beauty of this product is that it looks better in person, and it fits my style so well that it's absurd. As for mine, it serves as a bedside "table" that also serves as a home for the ashes of two of my late pets (it just feels better to have them close), some crystals, and a few electronics, and I felt that I needed something sturdy for it. In spite of being "tested" (slightly like my patience) when my cat climbed on to one of the shelves, I have put it up to my expectations. While the bookcase wasn't attached to the wall, it didn't wobble in the slightest. There may come a time when I will have to purchase another one of these for other rooms of the house.
