I am tired of seeing junk littering our pathways and our environmental resources. The amount of refuse that is thrown away at our dump sites on a daily basis is unbelievable. The use of straws is being curtailed by a large number of restaurants and bars We still use straws, though many of us dislike them. So, I was interested in the idea of reusing plastic straws. This is a quality product as well as it comes with a pouch so that I can store them in my purse easily. Those who use the pouch after use can make use of the brush that comes with it. We can only hope it will be a phenomenon that will prevent unnecessary waste from coating our planet's surface.
What a lovely straw! I love it! Their clean up is a breeze, too, since the cleaning brush is included! Plastic straws won't split or break like these! This is in lieu of the hard plastic straws that came with these metal tumblers I purchased a few years ago. I have been using it for drinks and smoothies since I received it this My feeling is that shorter cups and those that are about 7 inches or less might be a bit too long for them and might fall out, but I use large cups and haven't heard of that being an issue. Drinking cold drinks means they are very cold to the touch, and again, that hasn't been an issue for me, but it may be for others. Metal could also pose a risk to young children's teeth, or at the very least general tooth decay. In addition, I have noticed that there is a slight metallic smell coming from inside, but not so much when in use (maybe that will go away after a few times of washing and using). I find it more difficult to clean the bent straws with the brush at the bend than the straight ones, so I will use the straight straws more often and the bent straws for liquids, not smoothies where the brush might be more difficult to clean. There seems to be a high possibility of chipping your teeth when using these stainless steel straws and in my case, I hit my front tooth pretty hard when using it for the first time. Furthermore, they are much thinner and longer than you would expect from a straw, and I find that it is difficult to pull the liquid through them and they are very uncomfortable.
