Questions & Answers

Is this a genuine Kuhn Rikon press made entirely of stainless steel? $23. The price of $99 indicates that it could be a knock-off. off. ?

My two-day-old review was not posted, and a similar comment from the day before was removed. So far, there has been no communication with me. br>When my press broke (the pins fell out), I contacted the manufacturer, who informed me that there are very good-looking fake presses for sale on Amazon. I bought mine in May 2016 (DUNG PHAMSDDA sold it and Amazon fulfilled it). ) Kuhn Rikon will stand behind their warranty, which I find to be very impressive. Kudos to Kuhn Rikon for replacing a product that I paid half the retail price for. br>Kuhn Rikon warns that unless the item is sold directly by Amazon, it may not be genuine. I was under the impression that Amazon fulfillment implied some level of trust, and I wish Amazon prioritized vendor quality. Many of the one-star reviews have the same problem, as you can see. Because the brand name is etched and the product has a patent number, counterfeiters are becoming more sophisticated. Take a look at the photos in my one-star review. br>For your information, KuhnRikon has an email address: [email protected]. If you need assistance, call 415 883 1101

Is there any way to make sure this isn't a fake when it arrives?

I'm afraid not, based on what I've discovered so far. Buying directly from the manufacturer is the best way to avoid fraud.

What country does this originate from?

There is no indication of where it was made on it. "Swiss Design" is imprinted on it. It's high-quality wherever it's produced. It's the best press I've ever used in terms of quality. Cloves don't even have to be peeled before pressing, and the creamy garlic that comes out of the press is delicious; it's also super easy to clean. It comes highly recommended from me.

I'm concerned about fake Kuhn products after reading reviews. Is there a solution to this problem? Is this the real deal?

I'm not sure how to tell if it's genuine or not. To my eyes, it appears to be the real deal. It's a shame the hinge mechanism is so shoddy and broken. The handles appear to be durable, with a lifespan of several hundred years.

It was a ruse that was quickly exposed
4/5

UPDATE: replaced! This broke after only three uses, which was extremely disappointing. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I received a replacement from the manufacturer. Even though it was fulfilled by Amazon Prime, I received a fake at first. br>br>The real one does not have the Swiss flag on the front and DOES have ridges to keep the bar in place while crushing garlic. There are photos of the comparisons.

This is a fake
3/5

Not from a third-party vendor, but from Amazon! I already own an authentic Kuhn Rikon and planned to give this one as a present. The original is fantastic and has been in continuous use for years with no problems. This one is a forgery. Riveting, mechanism, finish quality, label, and weight are all in poor condition. The phony is 286 grams in weight. 319 g is the weight of the genuine article. According to an article in the newspaper, Amazon is mixing third-party products with their own stock, making fakes a problem even when purchased directly from Amazon. Sigh.

This is complete nonsense
3/5

I'm not sure what it is about this publication that appeals to so many people. It was even praised by Cook's Illustrated. I'm having a hard time thinking of any advantages. However, there are a few drawbacks: br>Ergonomics are a disaster. It's awkward to hold because it's heavy, slick, and heavy. It's appealing to the eye, but it's a nightmare to operate. br>Because the hopper is small, a pile of garlic takes several loads and presses to get through. Garlic squeezes out of all sorts of nooks and crannies thanks to the design. So, in addition to the intended pressed garlic face, you end up with a lot of smushed garlic in all kinds of places that needs to be poked out into your dish or cleaned out later into your sink (in which case you've used a lot less garlic in your dish than you intended). br>Press cleaning is a time-consuming task. The complex mechanical assembly as well as the garlic-infused flavor Because of the everywhere design, cleaning this press takes twice as long as any other press I've used before. br>br>Overall, I feel like I was duped into doing this. Cook's Illustrated is a disgrace to the publishing industry. This press isn't even close to being the best on the market.

In just two years, I was out of money
3/5

The real thing/older version is fantastic, but the second one I purchased is either a fake or there was a change in production method because it is now useless after two years of very light use. The new one, purchased in 2017, squeezes garlic out the sides of the plate rather than pushing it through the holes, and the plate becomes stuck as the metal deforms and the hinge moves, requiring a lot of force to "pop" it out to clean it. br>br>The distinctions between the two are clear: 1. br>br> The old one had ribs on the bar that held the press plate to prevent it from moving side to side, but the new one does not. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The new ones are slightly tapered, while the old ones are very cleanly cut. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. The old one's metal appears to be slightly thicker gauge all around and has a brushed look on the edges, whereas the new one has polished edges (the old one weighs 323g, while the new one weighs 310g). br>br>4. The old lifting tab's corners were wider and sharper, whereas the new one's corners are smaller and slightly rounded. 5. br>br> The old one does not open as far and closes completely, whereas the new one is unable to close completely and opens further. br>br>The new one receives a one-star rating because it no longer functions. I'd give the old one a score of four out of five. 5 stars.

It only lasted four months before it finally gave up
3/5

It was only good for four months before it broke. I was initially embarrassed by the $34 I had paid. For a garlic press, you'll have to pay 00. They claimed it would be the last one we'd ever need based on reviews, but four months later, holding a broken, ridiculously expensive garlic press, I feel like a tool and have probably gotten what I deserved for spending so much money on the 'best' garlic press. I used to go to Fugazi shows and listen to the Dead Kennedys and Public Enemy. The World Trade Organization (WTO) was one of my least favorite organizations. I even served in the Peace Corps in a remote part of Ecuador! This incident only confirms my suspicions that I am, in fact, a sellout and a target. Are you really in need of a $34? Is a 00 garlic press available? br>On Friday, I filed a warranty claim with Kuhn Rikon, and I expect to hear back this week.

Garlic Press of exceptional quality
5/5

Three of these were purchased by me. One will be kept, and the other two will be given as presents. I'm returning for a review after several years of using them. This is one of the few products that has stood the test of time; after 5 years of use, it still looks as good as the day I first got it, and I use it at least once a week, if not more. br>br>One of the few products I've reviewed that has stood the test of time. Unless a product is defective, I usually do not review it within a few days of receiving it. Even if it's a great product after a few weeks, I won't give it a five-star rating after one month of use; instead, I'll give it a review after months of use. However, I had neglected to return to this one. Years later, it's still the best Amazon product I've ever bought that works and looks the same as it did the day I bought it. Because the product was so good, I gave the other two as gifts to my mother and mother-in-law. They like it as well and would recommend it to others.

Excellent Garlic Press - After watching the America's Test Kitchen series on the best garlic press, I found this garlic press, which is possibly one of the best
5/5

I decided to give this one a try because I've always had the cheap die cast ones, which are a cleaning nightmare in and of themselves, and I didn't want to have to wash and bring out a cutting board just to chop garlic. This piece of equipment is an excellent kitchen tool. It's solid and heavy in a good way, and it's designed to be cleaned and used quickly. The extruder section pops out for easy cleaning, and there are no stuck garlic pieces. The design provides a significant amount of leverage, allowing for one-handed extrusions of up to 2-inch diameter. 3 cloves at a time, depending on how big or small the pressed garlic is- For the best Aglio e Olio, I press garlic directly into a pan of olive oil, or into a mixture of mayonnaise, anchovies, and lemon for an excellent Caesar salad dressing. br>br>There have been reports of fakes all over- Fortunately, my version didn't come with a flag etched on it and instead came with tags- which appears to be the genuine article because it is of excellent quality.
