I've owned a number of pepper mills, but none of them milled the pepper perfectly. The modern design is at home in any kitchen. A soft semi-wet cloth is used to clean the surface. You can also choose from a variety of grinds. In fact, we have two peppermills, one of which is a bright red peppermill that is oh-so-chic. I use it all day when I cook or need to use on my food because the mechanism is tough and lasts a long time.
