I believe it is, but make certain that it drains well to avoid water getting into the seams. You don't want any water or food juice to accumulate inside. Yuck!

It's a nice mallet that's heavy duty and attractive. I've only used it once, but it appears to be durable; I spent a long time looking for one with the features I needed, and I believe I made the right choice. Because it is so heavy, I believe it would be effective as a weapon against an intruder. I intend to use it for things like chicken breasts, garlic cloves, ice cubes, crumbling croutons, and so on.
