I wouldn't use it with a magnet because it's heavy and has a ring on the handle for hanging, and the shell is stainless steel. Aside from that, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't use a magnet to store mine.
Because this meat tenderizer hammer is made of premium 18/8(304) stainless steel, it meets food-grade safety standards, making it safer and more reliable to use.

I was looking for something that wasn't made in China and was made in the United States, if possible. This came up in a search as being made in the United States, but when it arrived, it was labeled as being made in China. Sorry. I am not xenophobic, but I would rather support factories in our own country. This is something for which Amazon requires a filter.
I haven't had a chance to put it to use yet, but I felt compelled to share the (ahem) interesting (? ) the box's instructions! This made me laugh out loud.
This isn't a "one-piece" design. It appears to be made up of at least three different pieces. A black sealant-like substance was present, but it was easily removed. The issue with this tool is that it's put together in such a way that it leaves a gap around the head. There are open spaces around the circumference of the head where tissue from hammering the meat can get lodged. I don't believe this is a bacteria-free environment. Even when washed, the design is completely free. As a result of the impact forces, the leftover debris could end up in contact with the next product you're working on. I returned it and will look for something without these kinds of openings.
This is exactly what it claims- a meat tenderizer made of stainless steel It's long and balanced, and it gets the job done. The handle is a little longer than others, which is convenient because it allows you to let the weight do the work. Even better, unlike some aluminum tenderizers, you won't have to worry about it dulling or corroding. Stainless steel is used on all visible surfaces. Based on how it's made (like many other stainless kitchen tools, handles, and so on), I'm guessing the insides are filled with some kind of plastic resin.
You should get yourself the best thing you can. This meat hammer is one of my favorites. We were pounding boneless chicken breasts with a rolling pin to make fried chicken breasts that were dipped in egg, then panic crumbs, and then fried in olive oil. My husband, who refuses to eat white meat from a chicken, enjoys it as well. It's a very quick process. One for my caregiver was also purchased. She was so taken with our that we had to get her one. It will make you very happy.
I photographed the package to demonstrate the high quality of the safety and care instructions. In terms of the product, the handle is hollow, and there are so many seams that it's unlikely to be dishwasher safe. Due to the poor visual quality, I am returning this item without using it.

Stainless steel of good quality, cleans up well in the dishwasher, is all one piece, and is well-balanced. It's neither too big nor too small; it's just right. I believe it is ideal for the home cook. The money spent was well spent.
