I bought this attachment for a Kitchen Aid stand mixer that I've had for a long time but haven't used much. I recently began making my dogs' food from scratch with fresh ingredients, which has made things go much more quickly and easily. It would be nice if it was dishwasher safe, but it cleans up nicely in warm soapy water once it's all disassembled. My only complaint is that no matter what I grind, a piece always seems to get stuck at the back of the grinding screw and refuses to move forward toward the blades, leaving an unprocessed surprise for me when I disassemble it. There doesn't appear to be a way to push it into the blades while it's still attached, as the food pusher device will not push it through even when fully inserted. As a result, I deduct one star for insufficient grinding.
The product was delivered as promised. I made 60-70 bratwurst with it, and it worked perfectly. On the blade, there is some tissue buildup that could be sharpened. This is made easier if the meat is kept partially frozen or at least very cold. It is sufficient to feed the meat into the grinder. Rather than cutting your meat into cubes, cut it into long, thin strips. It will be pulled through once the strip has grabbed it. Running a second grind or using it as a sausage stuffer is significantly more difficult. After using a dedicated meat grinder and sausage stuffer, I've realized that this one is only good for small batches. It'll do the job, but processing the meat from a whole deer won't be fun. As the auger sits in the die, I'm noticing some wear on the end of it. This should, however, be sufficient for occasional use. My opinion is that it is an adequate product for the type of product it is, and I would buy it again in small quantities. I wouldn't buy it if I needed to make 50 pounds or more of sausage.
Please pay attention to the description's final paragraph. This item is not suitable for use in a dishwasher. In fact, putting any core part of it in the dishwasher will leave a grease-like black film on it that you won't be able to get rid of. br>br>I saw this as a lightning deal on Prime Day and snatched it up quickly because I needed a stainless grinder attachment. I assumed it was stainless based on the appearance and the high number of positive reviews, so I grabbed it without reading any further. It's not only not stainless, but it's also made of a strange metal that forms an oily black film when exposed to extremely hot water. Even if I hadn't accidentally put it in the dishwasher, I wouldn't use it knowing that. It's also made of thin metal with sharp edges, so regardless of what strange metal it's made of, I wouldn't have liked it.
For the first time, I used the grinder, and it was fantastic. There are three different sizes of grinder plates to choose from. Setting it up was a breeze. It's simple to maintain. It's all easy to store because it's all disassembled. I like that it came with three different sized sausage stuffing tubes in case I want to make more sausages in the future. I bought this to replace a grinder I'd had for 42 years, and I'm glad I did. I would highly recommend this product because of its durability, quality, and ease of use, as well as the affordable price.
One of these has been on my wish list for a long time. Finally, I made the decision to give this one a shot. It was less expensive than the all-steel one I was considering spending 180 dollars on. This, on the other hand, is a well-made machine. I didn't expect it to be as heavy as it was. I obtained it in order to hide liver in my children's hamburger meat. The most nutrient-dense meat is liver, which is nearly impossible to persuade children to try. Simply grind the liver and combine it with ground beef from the grocery store. As a rule of thumb, use a 1:4 ratio.
I just finished my first batch of bratwurst, and they turned out fantastically! The following are two things you should be aware of: The pusher's performance is appalling. It's made of a slick plastic that has no traction. Almost every time I pushed it all the way down, I had to use a metal knife as a pry bar. It requires a gripping handle at the end. The Kitchenaid grinder is a tall appliance. I'm 5'8"; I use a step stool to get leverage even though I have a lower counter for kneading bread. To get meat through, you'll need to exert some muscle. In the future, I'll consider getting a smaller work table. Due to the awkwardness and difficulty of using the extremely slippery pusher, which was made even more difficult by the pork fat, I'm giving the review one star. The image of a greasy pig kept flashing through my head.
This kitchenaid attachment was purchased on Amazon and has proven to be extremely useful in the preparation of meats. I used to have a hard time grinding Kababs in my Cuisinart blender because I had to run it several times and the whole spices remained whole, but now that I have this attachment, I can grind a large amount of kabab in no time by simply putting everything in the top part and everything is finely ground in one go. So happy to have purchased this, the blade comes in a variety of sizes, whether you want fine, medium, or coarse, it has it all, and to my surprise, it also comes with a sausage attachment, allowing you to make your own sausages with ease. A must-have item for anyone who owns a KitchenAid machine.
It's light, but it's not cheap, which was a concern for me given how reasonably priced it was. Buy with confidence, in my opinion. Our first sausages turned out great, but we didn't have any string, so we only got two. sauteed on the foot, We now have the string and are looking forward to the next batch. This was a fun kitchen toy that added to our KitchenAid's capabilities.
