I'm impressed, but there's a new caveat to consider
4/5

Updated on July 12, 2021; I used the'sausage stuffing' grinder plate with cubed meat and ground it directly into the casing for my first use. It seemed to work out pretty well. I've already used with- To stuff a sausage, use ground pork. What a shambles of a situation. Things went well at first, despite the fact that my ground meat was nearly frozen. Unfortunately, the meat began to squoosh around the pusher as it warmed up, making progress extremely difficult. I decided to call it quits after a lot of sweat, a lot of work, and not much sausage to show for it. For good. I ordered a LEM sausage stuffer after vacuum sealing the remaining sausage meat and freezing it, as well as cleaning up the equipment. br>br>For a low-cost item, this food grinder attachment is fairly well made. It CANNOT be put in the dishwasher because the tinning will come off. Ground meat that hasn't been frozen will ooze up around the pusher rod because the pusher rod is too narrow for the grinder throat. The grind plates are made of stamped metal rather than machined metal. They work, but the stamping process leaves enough flaws that they don't fit well with the grinding blades, resulting in excessive and uneven wear on both parts. br>br>I'm disappointed that using ground meat resulted in such a disaster, but I still think this device was worth the money because it did a great job grinding up cubed meat and stuffing sausage in one step, and it also works well for grinding meat and vegetables. br>br>Oh, and I heard those mysterious black plastic parts are used to make churros. I've seen them for sale at Costco and know what they are, but I have no idea how to make them. I'll see what I can do. br>br>This product was a dream to use with my kitchen-aid mixer. Stand mixer by KitchenAid a smaller-sized model from the past. It was securely fastened to the appliance, and - frankly - It appears to be a much better option than the Kitchen-Aid plastic grinder attachment. Aid. I've now used this product to make link sausage and can vouch for its effectiveness. br>br>The opening of the box - I was surprised at how many parts fit into the small package it came in (Hint: it came in a small package). If you plan on putting those parts back into that box after each use, keep the layout in mind! With the exception of the pusher, which was plastic, and two black plastic parts that I have yet to figure out the purpose of, I discovered that the parts were all metal, albeit very lightweight metal. There were three very light grind plates (fine, coarse, and sausage-style) to choose from. Two blades, three metal sausage stuffer tubes in various sizes, the screw, throat, and tray are all included in the stuffer. A very light brush, as well as an EXTREMELY brief user guide, were included. br>br>First use - I made link sausages with this product for the first time. The seller could have done a better job of describing the necessary lubrication prior to use, but to be fair, it appears that they assume you already know what to do if you're stuffing sausages. I watched nearly a hundred YouTube videos on how to use a stand mixer meat grinder attachment, but I didn't see anyone mention lubricating the nylon collar at the back of the screw. Mine squeaked a little (and loudly) until the pork fat migrated to the back of the screw and lubricated it. The device, aside from that, performed admirably. It was a little difficult at first to keep feeding meat into the throat with one hand while managing the flow of ground meat into the casing with the other, but with a little practice, it became a lot easier. However, having two people would be more convenient - One will focus on putting the meat in the throat, while the other will focus on filling the casings. The metal stuffer tube did a fantastic job - As the casing was filled, it slid forward easily. I've seen cases where the casings of plastic tubes'stick' to the tube, making it difficult to manage while working. In most cases, I believe that lubricating the tube with either water or a food-grade lubricant is sufficient. That condition could be alleviated by using high-grade oil. Before I slid the casings on, I made sure they were saturated with water and kept them wet while I worked. As a result, after all of the preparation that went into making sausages, the actual process of stuffing them seemed almost anticlimactic. br>br>Overall Observations - The user guide is in need of improvement. While it warns that the parts aren't dishwasher safe (which they aren't! ), it's worth noting that they aren't. ), it doesn't say much about how to use it, how to care for it, or what to do with the mysterious black plastic parts. It looks like it could be used to make a giant macaroni tube, but I'm guessing it's for already ground meat, though I'd like to know more about how it's used. It would also be beneficial to understand how to lubricate the parts before using them. Take, for example, the nylon bushing at the screw's back end. Also (and this may seem a tad nitpicky), A mention of how tightening the collar affects the device (the collar is what determines how much pressure (and thus friction and heat build-up) is applied to the device) would have been helpful. as it rotates next to the grind plate of choice) is placed on the knife. If the knife is too loose, the meat will not be properly cut, and it will be mangled and torn rather than cut as it passes through the plate, resulting in a meaty mess. Instead of ground meat, there was a fatty paste oozing out. Excessive pressure and wear on the knife occurs when the screw is tightened too tightly, and your grinder has to work much harder to turn the screw. A certain amount of balance is required, and the seller/manufacturer could easily have pointed this out to newcomers. Oh, and did I mention that brush was included? It's too light-weight to do anything but clean the insides of the stuffer tubes. Weight isn't useful for cleaning other parts because it's too heavy. To clean the screw and throat, use a stiff bottle brush. br>br>However, in general, I believe this device was a good buy. I don't expect to use it for many years, but it allowed me to experiment with making link sausage without spending a lot of money. Now that I've learned more, I'll be able to take steps to help it last a little longer. When it finally fails, I'll be better prepared to replace it with the appropriate equipment.

The product is long-lasting and simple to operate
5/5

To process meat and food, this Kitchen Aid grinder attachment is very simple to use. Because they are made of metal, all of the components appear to be long-lasting. Given the solid material of the product, I expect it to last longer than plastic grinder attachments, but I'll have to use it for a while and observe to be sure. The installation took less than a minute, which is critical for using it with Kitchen Aid on and off, and the grinding process is simple to use. More importantly, I appreciate how easily the parts can be disassembled and detailed cleaning can be completed in a short amount of time.

This is an outstanding present
5/5

It belonged to a friend of mine. I had no idea there were different KitchenAid mixer models, but it worked flawlessly. I was considering the ones made by KitchenAid, but they make sausage and ground meat, which are two separate items that are quite expensive when purchased together, so I chose this one, which was perfect; she loved it, and we had a nice meal together.

This item is suitable for occasional use
4/5

For hamburg, I just ground a chuck roast. It works well, but the blade-to-cutting-disk fit could be improved. This will suffice for the light grinding I'll be doing, but I'm not sure how well it will hold up if I'm doing more. It was a good fit for the mixer and was simple to use. I would recommend this product for occasional use by a small family. It will be fantastic to be able to grind chicken thighs, which are difficult to come by and make better burgers than breast meat.

I'm very happy
5/5

It was intimidating at first, but by the time I got halfway through the first grind of beef, it was second nature. The second grind went so smoothly that I immediately wanted to grind some more meats. We prepared patties and immediately grilled a sample. After tasting the freshness of the sample burgers, we will never buy ground beef again. The venison from this past winter will be the next item on the menu.

This meat grinder is incredible
5/5

Chicken, pork, and beef are all ground up in this machine. Installing and cleaning the unit is a breeze. It's what I use at home to make sausage and grind meat. It's best to use it on meat that's been partially thawed. It's even better if the parts are chilled first. It's the perfect size for my KitchenAid. Built and engineered to perfection.

It's fantastic! This is fantastic
5/5

In the last month, I've used the grinder a few times. I'm in ecstasy right now. I had been considering them for quite some time before deciding on this one. It's simple to set up, connect to the mixer, and use, and it performs admirably.
