Questions & Answers

Is it capable of grinding both bone and meat?

Yes, for the dogs, I use this to grind raw chicken bones.

Is it a Chinese product?

None that I'm aware of aren't manufactured in China. Biro, I believe, is made in the United States, but they are large grinders. My LEM has been with me for a year and it is the best I've ever used.

Is there a way to reverse it?

Yes. There are three speeds: reverse, stuffing, and grinding. This is an excellent little machine.

Is the gear made of metal?

It does, in fact, have metal gears.

THE CUTTER AND THE BLADE ARE NOT MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL
3/5

I just got mine and they lied, the cutter and plates stick to a magnet very easily, so I called the company and they said they would sell me better plates from a larger, more expensive model that would fit this junk, but they DO NOT MAKE A REAL SS CUTTER FOR THIS MODEL, the auger worm is cheap aluminum with a HUGE bur, and I had to file it down to get the cuter to go on, which is insane for a brand item, this is my third food processing br>br> IT'S BEEN 4 MONTHS AND I'VE FILED THE AUGUR OVER 10 TIMES THE BLADE IS PLAIN STEEL AND THE AUGUR IS CHEAP ALUMINIUM DON'T BUY IT JUNK PURE JUNK DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND A GOOD AUGUR AND CUTTER SS ONLY DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND.

Meat Grinder, LEM 8, Mighty Bite This was purchased to grind pork for sausage and to make bulk beef into burgers
5/5

I also intend to make a variety of sizes and ingredients for the links. It was nicely packaged when it arrived. All of the items were in good working order. It took a few days for me to find a large (nearly 5-pound) beef roast on sale. The trial run took place today. All of the parts that would come into contact with the meat were thoroughly washed. It had an oil coating on these parts that needed to be removed to prevent rust. Everything was well-fitting and easy to put together. The feeder pan simply slides onto the standing feeder tube; there are no screws to hold it in place, but they aren't required because it is a very tight fit. Before grinding the beef, I cubed it and mixed spices into it. I began by running the machine at half speed on the'stuffer' setting. It ate the chunks like a starving pit bull and then ejected a gorgeous burger. It was course ground because I used a large 10mm plate. I should've added some fat to the mix because the resulting mince was barely holding together (my fault, not the grinders'). I made a couple of large, lean burgers. Unlike market ground beef, there was no puddle of grease in the skillet. It tasted like a hamburger, thank you very much! I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about. In terms of flavor, the already ground burger usually has little flavor, so it's a no-go. These large round discs of minced cow actually had the burger flavor I was looking for! Due to the lack of grease, the burgers had a real 'crust' to them. There was still a lot of burger, so it was back into the zip-lock bag. Seal the bags and place them in the freezer! I followed the advice to feed it a slice of bread as a last resort to get all of the meat through, and it worked perfectly. I took it apart, hand washed it with a sponge and bristled bottle brush, and it was as easy as pie to clean every crack, crevice, and cranny. Reassemble it, and it'll be ready for our next adventure in no time. br>I've used a hand grinder before, and it's not exactly a relaxing experience. Today, I paid $1 for a boston butt. pound for 29 dollars When you factor in the cost of spices, I've got a perfect home-made sausage for under a dollar. 50 pence for every pound! I know exactly how much fat, spice, and everything else went into it. From processing bulk meat on sale into burgers, loose sausage, and links, I expect this to pay for itself fairly quickly. Plus, it's just plain entertaining! If I'm lucky, Bambi will also come to the party. br>The grinder wasn't too loud, worked perfectly, and was simple to use and clean. There are three grinding dies included: one for coarse grinding, one for fine grinding, and one for stuffing links. It also comes with three stuffing tubes that can be used to make links ranging in size from breakfast links to brats (I'm sure there are other sizes available). br>This is a fantastic set-up. It's small enough for a casual user, but powerful enough to handle a deer, pig, or beef. Yes, it will take a while because it claims to be able to grind three pounds per minute, but that's nearly 200 pounds per hour! By the way, that figure is based on reality, not advertising hype. This baby does a great job for the price! I'm looking forward to many delicious adventures in the future. Is it likely that I will make a similar purchase in the future? I'd say yes in a heartbeat!.

You will never eat a better burger! Very strong
5/5

Does exactly what I'm looking for. I'm sick of eating burgers and tacos where half of my meal consists of bone fragments, beaks, and various nose rings and body piercing jewelry. As the old adage goes, if you want something done right, do it yourself, and that is exactly what I am doing. When you grind your own meat, you know exactly what goes into it, as well as what doesn't. Cleaning isn't nearly as difficult as some people believe. Keep the machined steel parts clean and rust-free by wrapping them in paper towels saturated with coconut oil and storing them in a ZipLoc bag. I ground 15 pounds of pre-made flour the first time I used it. In less than 5 minutes, you can have cubed meat! Keep buying that store-bought haggis if you want hooves and lips, but if you want the best-tasting burgers, imagine spring for this puppy!.

I was once again blown away by the power and simplicity with which it stuffed
5/5

When I first opened the box and saw how big this grinder was, I was a little skeptical. I went out the next day and bought a 5 pound pork butt to try my hand at making pork sausage. The speed with which it ground the pork astounded and impressed me. Not only on the first, but also on the second! My father and I ground deer and pork for homemade deer brats a few weeks later. Stuffing the meat into the hog casings was done with the stuffing plate/attachment. I was once again blown away by the power and simplicity with which it stuffed! br>br>This is a fantastic little grinder/stuffer that I would highly recommend.

It's a very difficult operation
3/5

I think the hopper's locking hole is too big, allowing it to move around a lot. It used to move like this before I ever put meat through it. I've taken it apart and reassembled it several times, and it always runs the same way. I've got it tightened down to a tee; it didn't appear that anything working like this could last very long. This does not appear to be a particularly good grinder. I'm grinding at a rate of about a pound per minute, which is slower than I anticipated. br>br>For stuffing sausage, the largest grinding plate is ideal. However, due to the amount of movement, it is difficult to operate.
