Questions & Answers

Is there a cookbook included with it? I had never attempted to make a sausage before. Where can I find the meat-filling item I'm looking for?

The meat grinder came with a small recipe book and a handle for pushing the meat down into the funnel. Even with the smaller funnel, you can't fit much casing on it. If you don't get a different stuffer, you'll be sorry. The grinder worked well, but stuffing 25 pounds of meat took a long time with this product.

Would one or both of these work with a Ronco pasta maker and the bagel die? Thanks! ?

The sausage tubes are too small in diameter to connect to the Ronco Pasta Maker directly. You'll have to give up one of your pasta dies in order to attach these sausage tubes to a Ronco. Cut out the center of the die with a metal lathe until the sausage tube fits snugly inside. The die will then function as an adapter, allowing you to attach the sausage tube to the pasta maker and extrude sausage meat through it. I made one of these adapters, but I've never tried running sausage through it.

I believe this will fit on an Electrolux grinder model emm1000. ?

As long as it isn't a larger grinder, I believe it is possible. On my regular meat grinder, I used the kitchen aid attachment, which worked perfectly. It's a breeze to stuff sausage.

Where do you get the edible tubes that you use to stuff the sausage into? What do you call them?

It's widely available in supermarkets. Sausage/hot dog casing is what it's referred to as.

Only my worst enemy would get this from me
3/5

This was completely useless, as my headline implies. We tried a number of different approaches to get this to work (slowly feeding the tray, packing it in, letting it feed itself, etc. ) and it was a long and painful process. Not only was it inconvenient to feed the sausage into the casing, but it was also inconvenient to hold it about 18 inches above the table. I contacted a few friends who have done this before, and they all agreed that machine stuffing is ineffective and that hand presses are the best option. It was a night and day difference when I ordered one. I was able to produce twice as much sausage in half the time, proving that the hand press is the way to go. I wish I could give this a zero-star rating. It's simply not worth our time. I'd only recommend it if you're looking for something to do with your free time.

useful
5/5

I was really looking forward to using this for the first time. br>I work as a hotel cook and recently learned how to make our housemate sausage, so I went out and bought one of my own so I could experiment with different flavors. I probably use this attachment once a month, when I make a medium batch of various sausages and then freeze them for later use. br>I've also made my own breakfast chicken sausage and burger patties using only the grinder. br>This attachment has helped me save money in the long run by making it easier for me to eat healthier. I know exactly what goes into my food now that I use this product. This took a long time to get used to at first, but after a few uses, it became much easier to use and clean. Cleaning these parts with regular dan dish soap has proven to be the most effective. It performs admirably in terms of removing grease that accumulates during use. br>I also like how light this product is, and I store it in the small, easily accessible box.

This is an excellent kit
5/5

I finally got rid of the old KitchenAid and began a new hobby with my husband. After grinding the sausage with the KitchenAid food grinder attachment, this kit works great for stuffing it into the casings. The smaller funnel is also useful for rinsing the casings' interiors before stuffing. Simply place the smaller end of the casing on the smaller end of the kitchen sink and the larger end under the running water. I'm not sure how I'll be able to rinse out the casings without having to use the funnel. This purchase was a good buy.

Please do not waste your time

$X more for the sausage stuffer kit, which consists of only two inexpensive plastic tubes? I hadn't given it much thought before, but when I got the package and saw what I had paid for, it seemed ridiculous. Any meat grinder should have this as a standard accessory. br>br>On the subject of which. Make no attempt to make sausage with this kit and the FGA grinder that comes with it. Because the meat squirts up and around the pusher/stomper, it's nearly impossible to get the sausage through. I fought it for a long time, and my links were bursting at the seams. br>br>Save yourself the time and effort and get something else instead. br>br>I gave it back and received a refund.

This is a useless piece of garbage! This product isn't worth your time or money, as previous reviewers have stated
3/5

If you get it from someone, toss it in the trash. br>I've had a Kitchen Aid mixer for more than 20 years, as well as the accessory kit, which I've never used. I bought the sausage stuffer to go with the grinder attachment because we wanted to make our own pepperoni snack sticks. After 2- only a half-hour and a half-hour and a half-hour and 1/2 lbs. We gave up after pushing 6 pounds of pepperoni into the casings and purchased a Jerky Gun for $35, which works perfectly. Last but not least, 1/2 lbs. It took less than 20 minutes to make a pepperoni pizza. br>When we went to clean it out, the meat had become stuck in the auger, and we had to pry it out of the housing - a complete disaster! br>Don't waste your time or money once more.

Excellent, if not quite as fast as a dedicated stuffer
4/5

When compared to the cost of a dedicated stuffing device, which can cost up to a hundred dollars, this small attachment is a great deal. Here are a couple of things I've noticed: br>br>(1) Before sliding the casing on, make sure the stuffer is coated in Crisco - It makes putting the casing on the stuffer a lot easier. br>br>(2) Keep everything as cold as possible - Place the meat mix, the grinder parts, and the stuffer in the freezer until it is stiff but not frozen. Stuffing will be much easier as a result of this. br>br>(3) Slow-moving - Kitchenaid can only stuff as fast as the worm in the grinder spins, which isn't very fast at the recommended speed of 4. This is made worse by the extremely cold meat, which necessitates extra effort to push into the grinder hole. Slow means that stuffing 3 pounds of sausage took at least 20 minutes. That is slow in comparison to what I've read about what a dedicated stuffer can accomplish. I'll shape the meat into logs before chilling it next time, so it can go through the grinder faster. (4) Holding the filled sausage as it comes out helps prevent air from getting into the casing. As the sausages reach the desired length, you can push against the flow of meat to pack the casings even tighter and twist the casings (twist each sausage in the opposite direction of the one before it). br>br>(5) Because the kitchen aid isn't flush with the counter, it's better to do this as a two-person project. clearly - As a result, I found it easier to use this with one person pushing meat into the grinder and the other holding the sausages and casings. br>br>Overall, if you already own a kitchen aid meat grinder, this is a great addition and a very, very affordable way to get started making your own sausage. br>br>If you're debating whether or not to make homemade sausage, the answer is yes, it's well worth it. Of course, it takes longer than shopping at the store, but the sausage now tastes great and there are no "trimmings" or other mystery meats in your food.
