Yes, I believe this is true. There are 9 items in this box. The length of the lamp is 25 inches. It takes 7 pencils to make a standard #2 pencil. The length of this item is about 5 inches
Taking this dispenser back for a new one was not as easy as it was when I first bought it a month ago. During inspection, it was discovered that the size adjuster was defective. In any case, it's a fairly cheaply made product, which isn't a big deal since I paid what I did. You will absolutely be able to use this with pencils, but it may disperse more than one at a time, just like with straws, regardless of how you adjust its innards.

I have tried to wash this item with bleach, but the smell just won't go away. The smell is in the straws because they do not have a wrapper. I do not recommend it. I am searching for one more.
Although it is a great concept, it does not fit every length of straw. There may also be a need for a thicker straw to prevent too many from emerging at the same time.
We received a broken package since it is made of low-quality plastic. This is for my classroom, so pencils can be dispensed. Maybe a month is all it will last.

A certain straw size is needed to keep it inside of the bin. The small straws just slide right out when the container is moved.
You won't lose the straw if it gets stuck in the cup.
The straws would either not release a straw or release multiple straws, depending on how they were wrapped. If it does not work correctly, it pretty much defeats the purpose of purchasing a self-service straw dispenser. This is a very cheaply made product. This is not a product I would buy.
