Stainless steel is what I believe the lid to be made of. As far as dripping is concerned, we have never experienced that problem. I am glad I spent the money on it.

There is a lot of inadequate design in this product, as when you press down on the lever it pushes back the contents that were in the jar, which drips down the back of the jar and hardens, making it hard to clean and not attractive.
While pouring, the tube collapses into itself when inserted, leaving a gap where the syrup can fall out of (and down the side of the container) when you pierce it. Rubber rings should fit properly in order for this to be a great product. But they don't.
I cannot pour honey from it because it gets stuck. When maple syrup is left on the table for serving, it will leak out, but it seems to be fine when it is in the fridge. There is a storage facility.
This was fulfilled by Amazon so it came poorly packaged, but it was good otherwise. I was surprised that none of them were damaged in shipping since the box had clearly been dropped and had some crushed corners. It is easy to clean and the 14-ounce size is an excellent alternative to other containers that only hold 6 ounces. As tested with maple syrup, the lid seemed to seal tightly and no drips were found. I would say it is pretty much as described. I like the solid cast zinc top. The glass is substantial, and it actually feels solid when it is held in place. A cleaning expert observed that the seal inside the unit is loose, and so may fall out.
