This 19 I can tell you with absolute certainty. There is only enough room in a 9 cup container to hold 5 pounds. Weekends are usually filled with a variety of activities. As part of my effort to stay organized, I purchased some rubbermaid brilliant containers. It is nice to have the containers, but they obviously aren't designed for people who use them every day. A container for flour here is made so that one bag of packed flour can fit inside it - precisely one bag. Any time you need to re-stock, which is every two weeks for me, the process is very inconvenient.

There was a review stating that it did not hold a bag of flour that weighs 5 pounds. That's the way ours works! There is about an inch of spare room to easily hold the whole bag (without any kind of packing). Despite its beautiful appearance, this container is easy to use and will fit into our shelf perfectly. We are planning on buying other dry goods storage boxes in various sizes.
