Since I have had this carafe, I have been able to keep my coffee hot for a long time. How long does it take you to drink 24 cups of coffee? I usually finish them well So far, the longest I have had coffee in the carafe is perhaps five or six hours and I can attest that the last cup was just as hot as the first. Therefore, for me, I have no complaints in that department and do not doubt the manufacturer's claims. Although the lid does not leak and is very secure, it may be a little stiff when it is new however, I do not believe there would be extreme difficulty in While it is not loose enough to open on its own, the pouring lever is easily operated by thumb pressure, and it is solid enough for pouring. The first thing I noticed was how nice the carafe looked and how good the quality looked. I'm not sure if it would work using a full carafe of hot water, but it could work for some people. In this case, I am returning the carafe due to the following two issues 1

Carafe lids are extremely difficult to clean, because their design features a seal that pops open on the bottom of the lid (* 1/4" at most) when the thumb lever is pushed down, which means that it is impossible to clean your carafe. I rinsed out the lid the best I could and then ran water through it while holding down the lever to come into contact with the interior of the lid mechanism. Then, I turned it off and left it overnight to dry. There was still coffee the next morning leaking from somewhere inside the lid when I picked it up. This has been bothering me for a week, and I cannot even begin to imagine how built up it has become. I would not feel safe using this style of lid for anything like coffee over time because of the grunge it will get over time. Probably good for hot water, but I wouldn't use it for anything like hot water over time. I can never get it clean enough! 1.
2. As stated in the instructions, I should have preheated the carafe with hot water for 10 minutes. However, since I only keep * 1/2 a pot of coffee at a time, the coffee would only be lukewarm after about 2 hours. Is it possible that the carafe would remain warm longer if it was completely full? This did not meet my expectations for my use. A lukewarm cup of coffee is nothing but awful! What a great idea! I never thought of it before. There is no use of a carafe when you take the coffee pot off of the burner because it can't keep your coffee hot enough for drinking throughout the day. While I followed the tips, without filling up the pot with coffee, the water will not stay hot enough without heating the water in the microwave or stovetop. As much as I wanted the coffee to stay hot, I was surprised that it didn't. Initially, the first cup will be fairly warm if the carafe is preheated and full, but thereafter, each ensuing cup will be colder. As for the old pot, I tossed it away since the new one is of good quality. My coffee is not staying hot, so it looks like I need to buy another device. I misread the image of the carafe and thought the inside was like a thermos.
