The mills were designed in the United Kingdom and built in China.
I only paid 59 dollars for my set. They certainly jacked up the price.
There hasn't been any leakage from the pepper mill. I needed to double-check the salt mill - I couldn't see anything on my light-colored granite countertops, but I could feel a small amount of very fine salt "dust" - There's no reason to be concerned.

The quality of the product is poor. The money spent was not well spent. China is the source of this product. I expected to get a slick mill made of metal and glass for the price. It's not. It has a plastic-based body. It should cost around $10 and isn't worth much more than that. This mill was well-reviewed by ATK, but it's a sad day when a company can get away with producing a pastic "toy," putting it in a fancy package, and making it appear to be more than it is. I would have gone to a big box store for plastic if I needed it. Cole and Mason's management should be ashamed for prioritizing profits over brand recognition and product quality.
The product description is misleading, as it contains many plastic parts and is made in China rather than England. br>The product description is misleading, as it contains many plastic parts and is made in China rather than England.
Because no one else seems to have noticed this unacceptable design flaw, I repeatedly removed and replaced the cap, then wiped the inside of the mill with a wet paper towel and photographed the plastic shavings. DISCLAIMER: DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM! Choose a brand that, like Peugeot, employs the traditional method of screwing the top nob into place to secure the cap. br>br>Other reviews have stated that removing the cap is extremely difficult. Also, you're sprinkling your salt with plastic shavings, which isn't fun. I never write Amazon reviews, but I was irritated that no one had mentioned this during my brand research. I hope this information is useful to others.
Regrettably, the dots are of the previous generation. I bought these because Cooks Illustrated gave them the highest rating for two years in a row, several years apart. The only disadvantage, according to ), is that the dots on the pepper grinder wear out over time because they're painted on. The dots are now embossed into the metal, so they will not wear out, according to a more recent review (as of 2012 ish?). ) I ordered these in 2019 and got the ones with the painted dots. As a result, these must have been made seven years ago! After all these years, I was surprised and disappointed to receive the old style. But I went ahead and used them anyway, and I'm very pleased with the results. They're easy to hold, and they have enough salt and pepper in them that I don't have to refill them as often in my home kitchen, where I do a lot of meal prep for two people. It's also easy to see when it's time to fill them because of the clear material. I'd buy these as a present for anyone I knew who was in need of S Grinding machines with the letter P. However, I'd like to be certain that the new style of dots is delivered rather than the old.
Pepper shaker top stainless cap came apart within 2 meters of first use, separating the plastic core. It appeared to be a cheaply made item with shoddy gluing. br>We were extremely dissatisfied, especially given the high price we paid.
Our other brand of mills couldn't grind fine, and the pepper, in particular, came out chunky, which some people dislike. The new Derwent mills grind uniformly and finely. I think it was money well spent because they look and perform better.
Excellent product; I was sick of buying those plastic grinders that require a lot of turning to get the product out and onto the food. These are more expensive than I would normally pay for such a luxury, but I anticipate that they will last at least 20 years. br>br>When it comes to enhancing the flavor of a meal, nothing beats freshly ground pepper and salt.
I'm amazed the company has the audacity to market a product that smells so bad. The mildew odor is overpowering, as if they were kept in a damp, moldy basement that may have experienced water damage at some point. I assumed it was just the box they came in, but the odor appears to have spread to the S. The contents that came with the P grinders, as well as the grinders themselves. This item has completely let me down.
