This item replaced the stainless strainer I was using at work. I could drink coffee from it even on the second steeping because the metal tasted bad. makes the cup much easier to clean. Although I'm not fond of the fact that it will leave more sediment in my cup than the fine mesh strainer did, I'm fine with it. There are more or smaller holes that could be put in here, and as far as the lip on the bottom of the insert, I might make it a little taller or notch it a little bit so the liquid runs into it. Otherwise, this seems to be a good fit. It has a very comfortable handle, and if not obvious from the images, the insert has holes on the bottom as well as going through four columns of holes.

This is one of my favorite teacups. Despite my suspicions that the packaging might be good (you hear some horror stories), it was packaged extremely well, with foam paper and cardboard separating each piece. As a bonus, I appreciate the ceramic tea strainer, which I have found to be much easier to clean than other tea strainers. You might find it hard to know if you have overfilled the cup, but you should be able to fill the cup with the strainers all the way, and then remove the strainers in one motion, and the tea will fill the space that the strainer occupied. Nevertheless, take care as the strainer itself can be quite hot, so keep a tea towel nearby. Also, my saucer had a slight residue from water dripping on it.
