In other words, My current chef knife is an 8 inch Damascus chef knife but I wanted something a little smaller just for the daily tasks as the blade of my 8 inch chef knife was just too long for me. It is very comfortable to hold this knife as it has a nice grip. As far as steel is concerned, the steel used in this blade is top of the line Damascus steel, which I appreciate greatly. The blade itself is extremely sharp and cuts through anything without difficulty. recently made some tuna sashimi with this knife and it cut the tuna with ease, the knife also passed the infamous paper cut test like a pro. For what it costs, this is a great knife. This Japanese knife isn't at the top of its game. It feels quite clunky in comparison to a good Japanese knife. You aren't going to spend $40 here and get the real deal. To work until these Shun knives arrive, I bought a guy to do some work until the Shun knives return. I like it a lot! The balance isn't all that good, which is what In addition to that, it's up decently well, though not as sharp as I had hoped. The purchase has been a good one for me. The knife is something I'll keep around to use as a knock around knife and bring on camping.

I can't even begin to imagine how nice this looks, because my camera can't pick up the details.
