Questions & Answers

As this is a tamper, will it fit all Breville 54mm portafilters since it is 1mm smaller than the ones listed above?

The 54-mm bolts are made to fit this ring. There is a narrower portion of the tamper that fits into the filter basket so that it will fit inside without difficulty. It works fine with my Breville 54mm filter basket. The dose must still be correct in order for it to reach the stop. I have a spring loaded tamper, but this is much easier.

Does the tamper need to be used if I use this method?

The replacement for your tamper is this tool. It is used to tamp the ground on one side, flip it over, and then use the flat part to level it. Each side of the tamper is adjustable, so I adjust the depth so it just tamps until the recommended depth is reached. tool consistently levels the ground so that you can produce an even shot, and it always tamps the same to aid in consistency. This is always done with the use of 18g of coffee (I always weigh my coffee).

Do you have a distributor that can be adjusted or just the tamper?

It is possible to adjust either the distributor or the tamper. Using this set ensures that every tamp is meticulous and precise.
