The end result is silky smooth.
I'm not entirely certain; It was sanded very smoothly, with no finish on the ends or edges. I used it to make oil-based pastry, so some of the oil has been absorbed by the wood in the middle. The dough does not stick to the rolling pin, and the grain remains very smooth. Another person suggested rubbing it with mineral oil, which I would have done if I had thought of it before I started using it. I enjoy using it, and I find that the rings that come with it help me keep the dough level at the correct depth for my recipe.
However, I did not detect any odor. I took a piece of sandstone from my yard and gently rubbed it all over, paying special attention to the ends. After that, I rubbed grapeseed oil all over the pin. Everything appears to be in order.
According to my go-to non-expert, the diameter is one and a half inches. a ruler in metric units

I do a lot of woodworking, and this rolling pin is very well made. I make my cutting boards out of rock maple, which is a very hard wood. br>br>I'd say there's a 180-degree difference in fit and finish. Sanding to a 220 grit finish The edges are rounded nicely. It has a silky smooth feel to it in your hand, and it comes as a raw wood pin that needs to be oiled. br>br>Seasoning the wood with mineral oil is mentioned in the directions, but it's easy to overlook. Any good board oil should work, just like a cutting board. br>br>However, make sure to oil it before using it, as water will raise the grain of the wood, making it feel rough. If this happens, simply sand it with 220 grit paper by hand. Made in the United States of America. br>br> That, in my opinion, is worth a few dollars more. It has a woody scent to it, which I like. Stoves that burn wood and pine trees are two things that come to mind when I think of the outdoors. br>br>This rolling pin is of HEIRLOOM QUALITY! You'll be able to pass it down for a long time. It isn't a shabby knockoff. This is a "work of art" as well as a "work of craftsmanship," in my opinion. br>br>The rolling pin is made of high-quality steel. PERFECTLY CRAFTED QUALITY WOOD! This product was clearly made with pride by an artisan. br>br>This is a QUALITY product! This is CRAFTSMANSHIP at its finest!
. Please read the directions carefully and DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER OR SOAK UNDERWATER!.
It's well-made and finished, and I'm very happy with it. This is the first time I've ever used a dowel rolling pin. I've always used the traditional American rolling pin, but I've never been a fan of it. At 18 minutes, the length is also significantly improved. 5" as opposed to the usual 12-inch They're 13" tall. This one appears to be much more appealing to me. The cost-effectiveness of the product is outstanding. All I ask is for companies to be more precise in their descriptions. Many of the items I buy on Amazon have this issue.
These were recommended by a local pastry chef/baking instructor. They're simple to use, easy to clean, and big enough to handle bigger projects. Straight-grained maple with a very smooth surface and a nice finish. I 'test rolled' it on a flat surface and found it to be perfectly flat: There will be no lifting at the ends or in the middle. I'll use fine sandpaper to soften an edge left at each end for aesthetic reasons (it won't touch the dough), and I'll seal mine with cutting board oil to help protect the wood from moisture.
It's great; I like the diameter; I could have gone with a smaller one, but when I was rolling out the noodles, I discovered it stretched across the dough, allowing me to roll everything out at once. Now I understand the significance of the length.
Nice pin. Rolling pin is fantastic. Thick enough to handle comfortably, and well constructed from hard maple. It's nice to be able to purchase something made in the United States once in a while. br> However, the note on the box declaring a lifetime warranty made me laugh. While that is attractive, it is a 2"x19" piece of wood. I don't think I need to be concerned about having to send it back for repairs unless it's attacked by a swarm of berserk termites.
I haven't used it yet, but it appears to be a high-quality item, made of one solid, heavy piece of wood. There are no flaws because it has been polished smooth. I appreciate the fact that it was made with care in the United States. br>I was so disappointed when I received a more expensive amish-made rolling pin. It was made up of three pieces that were glued together and had three small holes in the wood caused by knots, making it unfit for food. This one is both less expensive and of higher quality.
This rolling pin is a simple cylinder of lovely hardwood with just the right length and weight. Above all, it rolls perfectly level, which aids in the creation of an even pastry crust or hand-cut noodles. It will come in handy.
