Proofing is the only part of the process in which the basket is used. It is starting to take shape here.
Whatever pot, cast iron skillet, or baking stone you already own. BUT the two baskets, which come with the Kook set, do not go into the oven. They are only used to prove the dough, not to bake it. In the oven, you will have a lot of smoke, which might cause a fire at home. Please do not even think about putting these in an
China is listed as the country of origin on the outside of the box. I do not recommend this brand.

This product is of high quality and at a reasonable price. I have found this kit to be the best thing ever. My experience has been that the price is very competitive. I was very pleased with the packaging and how easy it was Everything was in perfect condition when it was delivered to me. Despite its size, the bench scraper is very easy to hold and of excellent It is a pleasure to use the boxes because they are sturdy and easily portable. *I liked using the lame because it gave me good oven spring and was easy to use. I recommend this recipe to every home baker, whether they are making it for the first time or are seasoned veterans.
In addition to their excellent workmanship, the liners are an extra thick material and fit well in the baskets (which are indistinguishable from the ones I saw at restaurant supply stores and Sur la Table). I have baked sourdough loaves in this basket with and without the liners, each time dusted with a bit of rice flour, and have never had a problem releasing my loaves. There were some 'bonus items' I was impressed with for the price. It comes with an extra blade (I believe 5), as well as a little leather pouch for storing it in. The lame has a lovely wooden handle at the base of the stick, forming a slight curve on the double-edged blade. It is fine to use the plastic or handled dough scrapers Those currently in my kitchen are very similar to what I have. A high quality kit at an excellent price. I might even consider giving it as a gift in the future to a friend who is interested in baking bread or is getting into it.
Because of my busy schedule, school, and the fact that my mom had tried and failed at it (with me watching), I've put it off a few times. Because I was stuck inside thanks to the great plague (aka Covid) happening right now, I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to stay out of the store. As a novice baker trying sourdough bread for the first time? This is perfect! At first I was a little afraid of the size of the baskets, but they are practically perfect for making loaves as called for in most sourdough recipes. When floured with white rice flour (I used white rice flour), the two bantons smelled and looked lovely, and once floured, they let the dough come out easily and nicely without any need to clean them, and they had lovely rings on them as well. two banneton covers, even though I honestly only expected one cover to come (the description was a bit vague, so that's good to know. ) but haven't used them yet since the buttons themselves seem to work just fine.
Bannetons also seem durable, although I haven't abused them very much. The plastic scraper is a must have for getting the dough out of the bowl and onto the counter to knead (or when it's time to punch the dough down), and the metal scraper I use on the counter because it's so strong and durable. While the description specifically states that the plastic scraper is used for removing banneton waste from the bucket, I've never needed to use it for that purpose. (I always use a well-floured bucket for these kinds of operations). This lame seems to be working well for now. It's been a while since I've had to change the blade, but I have had to experiment There is something odd about the curved blade, but I don't know if that's a brand specific thing or what lames look like. The handle feels good in the hand. It's a great starter kit, with everything you need. (except the starter jar). Do you know of any that are better quality? If you search for the individual pieces, you can likely find ones of higher quality elsewhere. Yet, how do you honestly answer that question? Considering how expensive good quality bread can be? For someone who wants to start sourdough baking for the first time, and still isn't certain which style/feel they prefer? (Except for the jar, this kit has everything. Start up) that they need to do before they start. I think it was a mistake for my mother to purchase another banneton that did not have everything in this kit. The site is highly recommended. I have referred others to it and will continue to do so.
I like the size of the baskets because they fit my Lodge Cast Iron dutch oven. The rubber scraper is useful for scraping high hydration dough without leaving much behind. The lame is good quality and has a nice protective cover to prevent fingers from being sliced. You won't have to dig around your kitchen to find something that works to make sourdough bread if you use this product. Everything is of medium to medium high quality so you won't have to worry about quality.
When I decided to try sourdough baking, I purchased this kit. This kit comes with everything I need to get going. There is a high level of detail. I like the wooden handle on the bench scraper and the padded handle on the scorer. In addition to the blade cover and handle, there are replacement blades included for the scorer. In addition to the fact that the bannetons themselves are of very high The tin cans are capable of holding a lot of bread, so you can make them small or large. Despite being fairly new to baking, the bread came out well, though I'm not a master baker. The product is excellent.
I would highly recommend it! This kit includes everything you need to bake amazing rustic breads at an incredible price. The extra blades are very convenient so you do not have to worry if you will run out, and there are also two different types of bench scrapers to make handling dough easier. Wouldn't trade it for the world!.
I know everyone started making sourdough when the Covid Lockdown began, but I was too busy getting things done. Having calmed down since the chaos, I decided to try it, and I ordered the Kook round set, which was complete with everything I needed, even extra blades and a safety cover for the Lame. made the starter with the help of a friend who is a professional, and I used a dutch oven enameled with enamel. Even though they weren't beautiful on my first try (there is no picture), they were delicious! When I practice and learn, I will definitely be able to do better, and I am considering buying more sets to give to my friends and family while I am learning and practicing!.
Originally ordered these to go with the baskets, but I was very happy I got extras as well. I didn't have a plastic bench scraper, so it was a nice addition to my collection. I also made use of a lame rather than using a razor blade by hand.
