There are a lot of cheaper tools available, but these two are a fine place to start. The baskets are sturdy, and the cloth doesn't stick when floured, and the lame works just fine. The bench scraper is functional, but not the best (the way it fits my hand makes it feel small and the fit is just okay). This set can be made into boules and batards immediately if you need to start making them, and for that reason it may be better to buy each piece separately.

I'd like to give this to my mom since she loves to bake breads, but sometimes has trouble proofing them in the I always feel more productive when I have the right tools! The baskets and tools appear well made and are unique enough to make her feel like she doesn't have anything similar already.

Beginners will find it very helpful. Using this basket liner for sourdough has been extremely easy and I had to wash the liners in advance and the next time have dried them beautifully and the basket liners are holding up well.

I have been using it quite a bit since I purchased it. I have purchased a banneton and bread lame before. You can easily wash the liners by putting them in a washing machine with warm water and drying them free-air. I have to admit that using the bread lame took me some time to adjust to because the blade is slightly curved and I was used to using knives earlier, but I have used the same blade for 9 loaves of bread so far, so I guess I'd rate it high. An extra blade which can be used as well as a leather cover for the one in use are included. read other reviews that mentioned the scraper might be a little small, but in my experience, I had no problems with size and didn't have any issues with the size of the scraper. Since I became interested in baking sourdough recently, I wanted a set of basic tools to elevate my sourdough breads. Having done my research about the web, I selected this set because it comes with everything I've seen. It has 2 sizes of bannetons (oval and circular), a lame cutter and a I have used this set several times and it works great each time with minimal maintenance. My boules are instantly better when I use this set. It isn't mandatory for great bread baking, but it elevates my work. The bench scraper in this set is the real star of the set. Despite being of high quality and working well, it is the product that really stands out. A knife such as this is sharp enough to cut through dough, but not so sharp that you can't use your hands to scoop out Despite being made of wood, I find the handle comfortable in my hands and it is easy to clean. It's been years since I've used one without a handle (just the metal scraper part) and I'll never go back to one with a handle.
