If you look up the pinch test on the internet, you'll discover that it's not a reliable method of testing. Even if the silicone contains fillers, this would not be sufficient to cause any harm.
Rinse and dry after washing with baking soda and warm water. Then place them individually and upright in a new plastic container with a lid, along with 2 or 3 COTTON balls lightly soaked in vanilla extract, and keep them in the container for 3 days to get rid of the silicone smell!
I always take the cupcakes out of the oven before icing them.
Yes. I used them to make muffins and cupcakes, and they didn't stick at all. This is an excellent product.

I bought these about a year ago and have been making muffins with them almost every week since. I liked how easy it was to use and how bright the colors were. Yes, they have a scent when baking, and yes, they have a flavor (which I describe as "soapy"). I just assumed silicone did that until I read about silicone baking cups in a cookbook this past weekend. You can use silicone pans or cups as well, but be sure to use 100% silicone products as well. Other products are not only less effective, but they also have a tendency to leach and stink" (FOK Cookbook, page 17). Ack! I logged in to check on my order and noticed that although it says "food grade silicone", it does not say "100% food grade silicone", it does not say " Other items are undoubtedly present. (Either the discussions about the pinch test were not included in the reviews at the time, or I simply missed them. ) ) Thus these will be thrown away and I've ordered different ones that indicate they are 100% silicone. But now I'm curious as to what I've been consuming for the past 12 months - I'm hoping for the best. But, honestly, why take the chance if you haven't already purchased them?.
These were purchased for the purpose of making homemade lotion bars, and they worked perfectly! The bars didn't stick and easily popped out, and the crinkled edges added to their appeal. This simple recipe was given to me by a friend, and it is delicious: br>Body Butter Barsbr>20g cocoa butterbr>30g virgin coconut oil (not fractionated)br>20g beeswaxbr>Combine ingredients in a heat-resistant jar or measuring cup and melt over low/medium heat in a pan filled with a couple of inches of water. Pour the melted lotion into the molds and set them aside to harden before removing them. When rubbed on the skin, they melt just enough and have a coconut, honey, and chocolate scent!.
Even muffins leave a residue that needs to be cleaned, as evidenced by other people's photos. I wanted to be able to cook eggs in the oven with these. They were, to put it mildly, extraordinary. rather than non-stick stick! After soaking in hot soapy water for an hour, it took me 15 minutes of scrubbing to get 12 cups clean. I would have greased a regular non-stick pan if I hadn't greased a special non-stick pan Why would I use these if I could just stick a muffin tin in the dishwasher and soak it for an hour? It would only take me 5 minutes to clean them with a plastic scrubby, so why would I? I don't understand the rave reviews because the muffin tin is easier to clean because it doesn't have the ridges that these do. Sure, they're bright and colorful, but I find that using a muffin tin is just as environmentally friendly and a lot less aggravating.
However, they are of poor quality, and the first time I used them, they began to fall apart. when I baked them at 350 degrees in my oven! Obviously, they aren't as heat-resistant as they appear to be. At such a low oven temperature, they should be resistant to falling apart, as they should be.
I baked . This product was completely ineffective. I used them to bake egg muffins, and it stuck all over the place. Because they are not stick-free, you will definitely need to grease them. as stated in the advertisement Even after putting them in the dishwasher, I'm still left with soaking and scrubbing them. It's a huge letdown because of the false advertising.
Buyer beware: they aren't 100% silicone at all. There would be no yucky aftertaste if they were, so it's a waste of money.
Although they are a great idea and look adorable, they are extremely difficult to clean. I'm going back to using tossable paper cups. To get the cake out, I have to scrub them with a brush, which isn't always successful. Soaking isn't going to help either.
These aren't quite as thick as I'd hoped. They had a strong chemical odor when they arrived, but it went away after washing. Unfortunately, because they are so thin and light, they cannot be washed in the dishwasher because they will be blown around. Having said that, I adore the colors and find them to be a lot of fun to work with. I doubt I'll use these for actual baking because I imagine they'll be difficult to clean and operate. I think I'd prefer to use paper or foil cups rather than a cup at all. Having said that, I've already come up with a slew of new ideas. They'll be great for organizing the junk drawer, keeping jewelry separate in a drawer, converting the cup holder in a 1995 Jeep Wrangler to fit skinny cans like red bull cans, keeping snacks separate in Tupperware for lunches, and other meal prep applications. These would also be great for storing pills and vitamins for children and the elderly, in my opinion. Their bright color makes them easy to see, making it easier to remember to take them, and their soft sides make reaching in to grab pills simple. Overall, it was a good deal, but not in the way I had anticipated.
