According to my understanding, the clock is not suitable for outdoor use. It is, however, a beautiful clock, which we have in our master bathroom.
Observe polarity marked in the bottom of the battery slot to ensure that batteries are fully seated and installed pointing in the right direction. Turning them backwards is a common blunder.
This wall clock is powered by standard batteries. You are welcome to use as well. It ought to work out just fine.

mostly. During the day, this is an excellent clock, and its main feature (the nightlight) is adequate but could be much better. Please hear me out. The clock is illuminated by a "night light" that shines from the center, where the hands are mounted. On the back of the clock, you can select between two light levels. When I'm trying to get some sleep and looking at it in a dark room, the high setting is too bright for me. The low setting is too dim (for me) to see the time on the clock because it barely illuminates the face of the clock to contrast the hands to determine the time; the only improvement I could suggest is that they illuminate the face of the clock from the outer frame inward, as this would require far less light to see the time clearly. I didn't buy it for the purpose of using it as a "nightlight. " "All I wanted was a clock that was illuminated at night so I could read it easily from my bed. " I didn't like having my digital alarm clock on my nightstand, but I did like that there is a separate battery bank for the nightlight and the clock's function, so the nightlight doesn't drain the clock's function battery. This is just my personal opinion of the clock; perhaps someone else isn't bothered in the same way. Overall, I think it's superior to any other design I've seen.
It's large enough to read at any time of day or night from across the room. It keeps excellent time, and the backlighting is flawless. Because the clock is powered by batteries, the back lighting (which is controlled by a light sensor) turns on every night. Every other clock we examined is powered by the sun. When it's cloudy outside, the back lighting only turns on for about an hour and is very dim. This clock is powered by batteries, allowing the sensor to turn on the backlighting as soon as it becomes dark. THIS CLOCK MAKES ME VERY HAPPY.

It's a fantastic clock for the money. It's simple to read at any time of day or night. Sweep motion to avoid getting too close to the seconds clicking on most clocks. This clock's "nightlight" feature has three brightness levels: bright, very bright, and off. If your child or an older person requires a "nightlight," this is an excellent choice. However, if you're sensitive to sound and light (like me), you'll probably want to disable the nightlight. Please, WallarGe (or someone else), make a clock with more light levels (or perhaps a dial to find the perfect brightness).
This clock reminds me of the old clocks that used to hang in my elementary school. It's actually quite similar to them, save for the fact that this one has a built-in nightlight. It almost makes me wish I could go back to school. It has large, bold numbers that are easy to read. It maintains accurate time and does not require frequent resetting. It's thick and looks great on the wall, as well as being well-made and quiet. It's a wonderful present for anyone. Outstanding worth.
