In July of this year, I bought a new clock. It's not even a smidgeon of a percent. It's only been a year and a half since it stopped working. The same problem exists with a blank screen that is unreadable. I'm not sure how I'm going to get it fixed.
Yes, it is possible. So far, it's a great clock; my mother has macular degeneration but can still read it.
Thank you for your thoughtful question, Sebrina. The backup battery isn't meant to power the clock; it's meant to keep track of the time. As a result, if you do not use an AC adapter, the screen will not stay lit.
Some of the responses in this section are a little perplexing. Yes, you can choose between a display color of white numbers and letters or yellow numbers and letters with this model SDC008W.

Amazing product that makes meal planning a breeze. Despite the cost, knowing what time it is and when to eat has been the most beneficial thing for my father. If you're a caregiver struggling with those issues, I highly recommend this product!br>br>This has been extremely, insanely beneficial to my father! He suffers from vascular dementia, and I had to put him on a meal schedule because he couldn't remember that he had just eaten 15 minutes before. He began to gain weight as a result of eating multiple meals in a row followed by multiple snacks. A word of caution: I spent months teaching him how to use the microwave safely (using minute plus), and I try to make it as easy as possible for him to prepare his own meals- example: I cut up tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, lettuce, and cheese for him to make his own sandwiches. Notes on the side: I almost gave up trying to teach him this because it was so frustrating, but it paid off in the end. The more you make someone with dementia rely on you for things, the more they will rely on you for everything, and the faster they will forget things on their own and decline. Quick tip: He can't open or close regular ziplocks, but the slider style works perfectly!br>br>I looked for a clock that had am/pm, the day of the week, and the date for quite some time. This is something I came across, and it includes morning, afternoon, evening, and night. He has more difficulties on some days than others, but that is the nature of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. He'll come out several times more to check the clock every few minutes to see if it's time to eat. I have to intervene on occasion when he just goes for it. It does, however, assist him in figuring things out on his own. br>br>I use this along with a magnet whiteboard on the fridge with the eating schedule, and I put a check mark next to the meal/snack after he eats it, and this is by far the best visual cue that my father can understand. This is something I usually do in front of him, which can help. Overall, I would recommend this book. br>br> Hold on to your sanity, caregivers! Don't be too hard on yourself if you're having a bad day; it's one of the most difficult and heartbreaking jobs in the world. If you ever have a question or need to vent, the Alzheimer's Association offers a 24-hour advice line staffed by therapists and other professionals. It's truly incredible that they can answer any and all dementia-related questions. 800- 272- 3900.
My lovely mother-in-law Law is 89 years old and suffers from tremors and pre-existing medical conditions. We bought it for her as a gift. br>br>Parkinsonsbr>br> br>br>Easy to use and set up, as well as change the time and date. br>br>This clock can be seen from a distance of more than 12 feet. br>br>It's a lifesaver when she wakes up at 4 a. m. and isn't sure if it's AM or PMbr>she looks at the clock and it even saysbr>Dusk/Dawnbr>Or eveningbr>br>br>Plus the big bold fontes help her stay on track with her meds 4- 5 times per daybr>br>Wonderful product that has been a lifesaver for our mother and familybr>br>.
It's a great clock, but between midnight and 6 a. m. , it gives you false and confusing information. I'm going to have to give it back to you. Here's how it goes. br>br> Let's pretend it's 11 p. m. on a Sunday night. It says "Sunday Night," which is correct. br>br>However, it changes to "Monday Night" after midnight. " So that's completely incorrect. It's Monday morning, after all. Not on a Monday night, at least. br>br>So, if you look at it at 2 a. m. , it should say "Monday Morning. " This is extremely perplexing to my already perplexed mother. br>br>Here is the product description. br>During the following times, the clock will also show MORNING, AFTERNOON, EVENING, or NIGHT: 00 am - 11: 12:59 a. m. (MORNING), 59 a. m. 00 pm - 5:59 pm (AFTERNOON), 59 pm (AFTERNOON), 59 pm (AFTERNOON), 6:00 p. m. – 9:00 p. m. 10:59 p. m. (EVENING) and 59:59 p. m. (EVENING). 5:00 p. m. to 10:00 p. m. It's 59 a. m. (NIGHT). Why would you do this if you have a newer version and I have an older one? Thank you for your time.
)br>br>As you can see in my photo and video, I mounted the clock to the top of a pole I built. br>br>I unboxed the clock and read the OUTSTANDING instructions (a large three-page folder printed on high-quality paper with large-print instructions). easy-to-read text and very clear graphic images that help show and explain the clock's function settings) and after reading, I plugged the clock into the enclosed power supply, and the clock came on almost immediately with the correct time, day, and date set, greatly simplifying the set-up process. br>br>Because I won't be using the alarm clock feature with this clock, I can't comment on it. The only thing I had to change was the "auto dimming," which I disabled and easily set to the desired level of illumination. br>br>I'm very happy with my purchase, and I can see how this clock could be useful for people who have memory problems. br>br>I'll also do a review of the sound meter (the device in my video with the red numbers).
I couldn't have found a better clock! br>br>My husband is only 52 years old, but he suffers from short-term memory loss as a result of multiple TBIs. He has lost track of the day, month, and whether it is morning or afternoon. This is an incredible clock! The digits and writing are both very legible and clear. It has kept him company throughout the day and night without making him feel lost. He has stopped asking what day it is on a regular basis, allowing him to gain more confidence and independence. br>br>I did have to set the clock for him, but the battery backup ensures that the time is kept even if we lose power.
