Questions & Answers

Is it effective at keeping my truck's undercarriage clean from mud, snow, and dirt?

It will assist in the removal of snow and possibly mud accumulations. After a few weeks, however, it will collect small particles of dirt/dust and appear dull. When I wash my Jeep, I simply use the rinse setting to hose off the undercarriage and I'm done. About six months should be enough time for the application to be effective.

What color does the product turn after it's been applied to a truck's underside or frame?

It essentially takes on the color of the surface on which it is sprayed. I've never used a better protective lube than this. Without it, I wouldn't be able to function. It's great for rust prevention and grease lubrication in general.

It seems to keep mice away for me; has anyone else noticed this?

A couple of years ago, squirrels ate the spark plug wires in my Cadillac. My mechanic advised me to place a mothball bag in the engine compartment. To keep moving parts out of the way, I used tie wraps. I got the moth balls in a three-pack from Walmart, and they work great. The odor of mothballs is unpleasant to mice, squirrels, and rodents.

Should I sand first and then apply the Rust Reformer, or should I just sand and apply the fluid film?

If the rust is bad enough that it needs to be sanded, I'd paint it with rust inhibitor paint and then start using fluid film in the spring.

Know What You're Getting Before You Buy It
5/5

I'm going to give this a five-star rating because the product is good and they don't make any false claims; just be aware of what you're getting. I thought this was a metal service thin film protector, but it isn't. It's lanolin wax in aerosol form, otherwise known as "sheep fat. " It protects rusted and corroded surfaces, but it's also messy, drips if you spray too much, and attracts a lot of dust and dirt. Unfortunately, I had already used a significant amount on my truck before noticing that it was a gooey mess sitting there. (The solvent base of true thin film protectants evaporates, leaving the protective film behind. ) It's a good product that protects, but it's also messy and collects dust and dirt; just be aware of what you're getting.

On mower decks, it works like a charm
5/5

This is what I use every time I clean my mower deck. The grass buildup simply flakes off, making cleaning a breeze the next time. I have a commercial Walker mower with grass magnets in some areas of the deck. It cleans up nicely if I cover them a little more heavily. A Honda mower with a NeXite (plastic) deck is also in my possession. It even works better on this deck than it did on my Walker's steel deck. The three-pack is my favorite because it always lasts me the entire mowing season with my two mowers. It comes highly recommended!.

It really works
5/5

This is something I really enjoy. It's what I use to protect the frame of my truck from rust (tacomas are notorious for rusting). It's in perfect condition. br>br>Each year, right before winter, I get under it and spray it down completely. The first two cans should suffice, with the third being used to winterize other lawn equipment. There are possibly two disadvantages. br>br> But neither of these things are important to me. It takes a little getting used to the smell at first, but it fades quickly. Second, every speck of dust or debris will adhere to the surface. It makes no difference to me when it comes to rust proofing my truck during the winter. When I reapply the following year, there is almost a film of grime on the metal that I wipe off. Underneath is a gleaming piece of metal.

It's almost ineffective
3/5

I've had this for a few years and have tried and tried to find an area where it excels. It hasn't made it to my go-to spot yet. to the list of chemicals used in garages Perhaps it has something to do with the offensive parfume odor, which has grown on me over time and has become nauseating. It has the scent of something that belongs on a diaper changing station. Perhaps it's to hide the fact that the active ingredient is derived from sheep's wool. YMMV, and you're free to come up with your own creative uses for this product. I reasoned that because it's so good, I'd save money and get the 3-pack. pack! Two cans are still available.

The best product available
5/5

The best products available! I'm a Jeep owner, and like most Jeep owners, we spend a lot of money on our vehicles to ensure that they not only look good, but also perform well. The majority of the money is invested in the underside, and it's critical to keep these items from corroding, especially if you live in an area like mine in Maine, where salt and dirt are common in the winter. With just a simple coating, this product will almost completely eliminate any concerns about that on the underside components. To get the best results, make sure your surfaces are as clean and rust-free as possible before applying. A lift would be ideal if at all possible, but not everyone, including myself, has that luxury. I recommend dressing in shabby clothes, putting on a hat, gloves, and eye protection, and grabbing some cans before crawling under and having fun! To avoid burns, stay as far away as possible from hot objects like the exhaust and engine. off. Flare-ups have never been an issue for me. but that isn't to say you wouldn't do it. This product is unique in that it not only provides superior protection, but it also does not attract dirt or other contaminants as you might expect. It's also resistant to car washes and other harsh chemicals, so give it a try before the winter season begins and you'll be good to go until spring. This isn't to say it's only useful in the winter; it's also great all year to keep things gleaming and clean. It's not just for auto application; anything metal that's exposed to the elements, such as satellite dishes, gazebos, and patio furniture, will benefit. Just buy more than you think you'll need so you can apply liberally in a preferred two-coat session. br>br>I have no qualms about recommending this product, and I was not paid to do so! If you happen to be reading this, FF, please send me some freebies!.

I'm hoping for the best, but it's not looking good
3/5

It'll be interesting to see what happens with this one. It came highly recommended by several people, and I had never heard of it before. As a result, they regarded me as if I were possessed of three heads. It was worth a shot, so I decided to give it a go. br>After removing the rust, I sprayed down a bunch of my old tool bits to see if this protects them better than the product I was using previously. br>One thing I'll say is that you should use it outside (or at least spray it outside, then toss the items indoors in a cardboard box) because the smell isn't pleasant, and I prefer solvent smells. It reminded me of when I was a kid and had to muck sheep stalls. (Obviously for the sake of clarity. ) )br>br>I really like the concept behind it, and I'll give it a higher rating if it lives up to the hype.

This is fantastic! Makes my frame appear to be brand new
5/5

I was skeptical of other reviews on here because I couldn't believe how well a simple spray could coat my undercarriage. I, on the other hand, am convinced. When the roads are covered in salt, this stuff is a must-have, and it also makes my underbelly look brand new. Diffs, axles, and frame have all been freshly painted black. I'll use this stuff again when it eventually wears out, but for now, it appears to be holding up well during the winter months. Make sure you wear a mask because this stuff smells like candy for the first 30 minutes and then turns into vomit. It should also be caked on. It will appear as if someone sneezed all over your car for the first 30 minutes, but it will clear up and shine after that. br>br>When the time comes, I'll definitely buy it again. Especially for Toyota owners, this book is a must-read.

Regrettably, this is not in our best interests
3/5

I'm glad others liked the product; I used it to prevent rust on outdoor folding chairs, but it stinks awful and got on everyone's clothes because it just dripped all down the side of the chair. I only used a squirt of glue in each hinge. I had to wipe it off of each chair because it never seemed to dry and continued to smell. For me, it was a complete disaster. I wish the rest of you luck as well.
